Days before the shocking Forsaken teaser with the death of Cayde-6, a Redditor predicted exactly this event. But how did he do it? In fact, many clues are already in Destiny 2 itself!
Plausible prediction for Destiny: Predictions are generally difficult. One can use mathematical models to determine the next world champion or simply ask some animal at the zoo. But there are simply too many variables to make a safe prediction. This principle also makes forecasting in Destiny 2 so challenging.
A Redditor accomplished the incredible: he predicted the death of Cayde-6 with plausible arguments. But that’s not all: he even implicated the murderer Uldren Sov. How did he manage that?
Destiny Clue – Uldren with the Ace of Spades in prison: In Bungie’s new teaser, Cayde-6 dies (presumably – I still don’t believe it). He is struck down by his own weapon, Ace of Spades – by Uldren Sov, brother of the Awoken Queen, Mara Sov.
Uldren Sov was considered missing after the events at the beginning of the Destiny expansion Forsaken. With this action, he has immediately become less popular than Tess Everis.
The Redditor ArkConsular brilliantly predicted that the act would unfold just like this.
Destiny 2: Forsaken is supposed to be darker – someone must die. Or?
When it gets dark, someone dies: ArkConsular starts his arguments by stating that the overall tone of the new Forsaken expansion is supposed to be significantly darker than in the main game and the first two DLCs. Bungie has mentioned this in the ViDoc for Forsaken.
The “dark” here does not only refer to the colors – but to generating a concrete threat situation, triggered by the death of a significant character. “The mood will be dark” is often code for: someone will die.
The death of an important figure also triggers a desire for revenge, as the trailer impressively demonstrated. We have a dark setting and the death of a significant personality. But who will pay the price?
Already last autumn, data miners found hints in the game files that pointed to the death of Cayde-6. Conversations from the Tower asking how the Vanguard should proceed after the death of Cayde-6.

Hint in concept art: In one of the first images for the new Forsaken expansion, the exotic Hunter hand cannon Ace of Spades was seen. However, not in its original form but corrupted, dark, and evil. On the trigger is Cayde-6, which could symbolically mean that it originally belonged to him – or that the trigger is aimed at him.

The solution lies in the lore texts of Destiny 2
Ambiguous lore hint: In the lore of the sealed Ahamkara grasps, an exotic arm protection for Hunters that made its comeback with the Warmind DLC. The lore text states the following:
Only a few things can see the light, yet we are not blinded.
The bearer seeks the truth, but the line between truth and fiction is thin. A few truths and one lie we reveal to the bearer:
- Brother, again an ally, sends his regards.
- The Dreamer, awakened, shall meet the bearer.
- Light fades in the depths of the Prison.
Okay – at first glance, this all sounds quite strange. We have three statements, one of which is a lie. But which one? Let’s take a closer look at the statements:
- Brother, again an ally, sends his regards – Who is the brother? The only brother that is really relevant for Destiny is the brother of the queen Mara Sov – namely Uldren Sov. Has the Awoken ever been an ally of the Guardians? Apparently yes – actually, the Crow always shows us the cold shoulder. He is not very favorable towards the Guardians, so this statement must be a lie.
- The Dreamer, awakened, shall meet the bearer – This statement cannot yet be completely verified as we will only enter the dreaming city in the Forsaken expansion.
- Light fades in the depths of the Prison – This statement must be correct if the statement about the brother is a lie. In fact, we already know from the story of Forsaken that there has been a prison break that we are supposed to investigate, along with – of course – Cayde-6. Since the fading of the light is equivalent to Game Over for us Guardians, this must refer to Cayde-6.
