The fact that Destiny 2 will only run at 30 fps on consoles has confused players. After all, 60 fps is already established among the shooter competition. Bungie now comments on this discussion.
Mark Noseworthy, the executive producer of Destiny 2, comments in the latest cover story from Edge magazine on Bungie’s decision to allow Destiny 2 to run at only 30 fps on consoles. According to Noseworthy, everything is related to the world of Destiny 2 that has been created.

Not only the AI of Destiny 2 craves system resources, but also the large areas are very resource-intensive. One must also not neglect the fact that in some instances in PvE, up to six players can be present, sometimes even with motorized transport. Likewise, incoming ships gnaw at the capacity of the console CPU.
Would 60 fps have been possible in Destiny 2?
Noseworthy answers this question with yes – but adds a big “but” afterwards. The world in which the Guardians can move freely would be smaller, cooperation would be limited, and there would be fewer enemies to shoot in the face.
This is definitely not the game Bungie wants to make. The priority is to develop a fantastic action game. Bungie believes they have not sacrificed the frame rate for unnecessary things but rather offer a gaming experience that cannot be found anywhere else.

However, Bungie has recognized, according to Noseworthy, that the number of fps is an important topic for the community and immediately provides an alternative for those who do not want to miss out on high fps numbers. Because on PC, the refresh rate in addition to 4K support is not capped. Here, everyone can choose how much money they want to spend to achieve their optimal Destiny 2 experience.
Will there be Destiny with 60 fps on consoles in the future?
Based on Noseworthy’s statements, one can assume that this will not happen anytime soon. Bungie will not want to make any compromises on the gaming experience in the future. To ensure 60 fps, definitely more powerful hardware will be necessary – which is likely to be an issue for the next console generation.
