The story of Forsaken takes you back to the Reef
Veterans of Destiny 1 will likely recognize the Reef as a location. The expansion Forsaken brings us back to the realm of the Awoken, where this time we can explore the area Tangled Shore.
The story initially leads us alongside Cayde-6 on a mission, during which the Vanguard Hunter must sacrifice his life. Our Guardians now embark on a revenge quest in Wild West style to eliminate those responsible for Cayde’s death.
On our hit list is not only the Prince of the Awoken, Uldren Sov himself, but also his allies, the eight Barons. New enemies include the Scorn, Fallen who have died repeatedly and been resurrected.
Alongside Uldren, Petra Venj – an Awoken from Destiny 1 – will also return. Whether other familiar faces from the Reef will appear remains unknown.
New PvEvP mode Gambit
Forsaken brings a new mode to Destiny 2, which can best be described as PvEvP. Gambit is a mix of PvE battles against AI enemies and PvP battles against other Guardians.
In this mode, two teams of four players compete on different maps. The two teams are teleported to their own areas, where they fight against various AI enemies. The enemies drop particles known as Motes, which must be collected and stored in a bank. Players can carry up to 15 Motes, which will be lost upon death.
Depending on how many Motes the team collects, powerful AI enemies (Blockers) will be released at the human opponents, and their bank will be locked. Additionally, a portal can be opened to the opposing area with a certain number of Motes, allowing a player to enter for a limited time and fight the enemy players as in PvP.
A match consists of three rounds, and a round ends when the final boss, the Primeval, is defeated. But beware: While fighting the final boss, the portal to the other side remains open.
Raid “Last Wish” in the Dreaming City
The Dreaming City will be the endgame location for Forsaken. It will also host the raid “Last Wish,” which Guardians can start on September 14 at 7 PM. According to data miners, the minimum level for the new raid will be Power Level 520.
What players can expect in the raid is still unknown. According to the developers, the boss is said to be female and beautiful. You can find the latest updates on Forsaken and the upcoming raid at MeinMMO and our Destiny 2 Facebook page.
Besides the raid, the Dreaming City will also offer content for solo players. The area is described as a mix of the Dreadnaught and the Vault of Glass from Destiny 1, combined with a dash of Peter Jackson’s “The Lord of the Rings” films.
Players are expected to have plenty to do outside the raid, such as completing public events or uncovering secrets. The location is said to be filled with numerous puzzles, and there will also be challenges and bounties.
With Forsaken, Destiny 2 moves closer to its predecessor
Already with Patch 2.0.0, the pre-patch for Forsaken, the weapon slots in Destiny 2 were changed. Some weapons are no longer tied to their respective weapon slots, their availability is now determined by the required ammo. This aims to bring Forsaken a bit closer to the familiar weapon schema from Destiny 1.
However, the expansion also brings back several other features from the first game. Many players have requested that weapons now have random rolls again. Popular weapons from Year 1 of Destiny 2 will also receive random rolls. Additionally, armor will now also come with random perks.
Additionally, lore, triumphs, and collections will return. However, these features are meant to be more convenient than they were in Destiny 1. Players will be able to access lore and triumphs from their menu.
The collections, which are modeled after the kiosk from Destiny 1, will also be found in the Guardians’ menu. The collections include all the weapons, armor pieces, ghosts, ships, sparrows, emblems, and shaders that were available in the first year of Destiny 2. According to Bungie, all items will be saved that the Guardians have received since the DLC Warmind.
The saved items can be drawn from the Guardians’ collections again and again, provided they have the necessary resources.
9 new subclass paths and new supers
Forsaken will bring more variety to all Guardian classes, as Hunters, Warlocks, and Titans will each gain three new paths for their subclasses. So the expansion provides a total of nine new supers.
The new supers for Hunters:
- With the Solar super Blade Barrage, Hunters will be able to throw knives multiple times while in the air
- With the Void super Spectral Blades, Hunters become invisible and can then reappear behind enemies with deadly daggers
- With the Arc super Whirlwind Guard, Hunters will also use their staff for defense and even reflect projectiles
The new supers for Warlocks:
- The super Well of Radiance allows the Solar Warlock to slam his Dawnblade into the ground to activate a large-area aura that heals and strengthens allies quickly
- The super Nova Warp enables the Void Warlock to teleport multiple times over short distances and then erupt in a Void energy explosion
- With the super Chaos Reach, Arc Warlocks can shoot a wide-ranging beam of energy that deals massive damage
The new supers for Titans:
- The Solar super Burning Maul creates a flaming two-handed hammer. The hammer can be swung around or slammed into the ground to create a fiery tornado with short range
- The Void super Banner Shield creates a large, mobile barrier that blocks enemy projectiles while allowing allied fire to pass through
- With the Arc super Thundercrash, the Arc Titan launches into the air and can dive into a group of enemies from a distance, causing massive damage in a large area
New weapons and armor and a completely new weapon type
Of course, the expansion Destiny 2 will refresh with new gear, from which you can even acquire a few items before the launch of Forsaken.
The exotic weapons are tailored to the requirements of the addon and deal bonus damage to Taken enemies or Gambit invaders, like the hand cannon Service Revolver. With the Cerberus+ 1, we have already speculated whether it is the best auto rifle of all time.
The upcoming exotic armors are thematically aligned with Forsaken as well. For example, they enhance the handling of the new super paths or provide benefits with the new weapon type in the expansion –the bow.
With Forsaken, not only Nightstalker Hunters will be able to use bows. With the launch of the expansion, a completely new weapon type will return to the game for the first time in years. The exotic bows already known include the Wish-Ender, which marks enemies through walls while drawn, and the Trinity Ghoul, a primary weapon in the energy slot that deals Arc elemental damage.
