The Day One Raid in Destiny 2: The Final Shape starts today, on June 7, 2024, for all players who own the DLC. Anyone interested must prepare for the challenging raid race. Therefore, we show you 6 things you should do before you dive into the contest mode of the “Rift of Redemption” raid.
Why do I need to prepare? As with every new raid, Bungie activates a contest mode for the first 48 hours. This contest mode will also be active in the new “Rift of Redemption” Raid from The Final Shape. The mode makes the raid tougher and more demanding. Enemies appear in higher numbers, become bullet sponges, and deal absurdly high damage.
For this reason, we have selected six things for you to complete so that you are prepared for the contest mode.
You are welcome to list additional points, tips, or things in the comments and exchange ideas with other guardians about them. With our little directory, you can jump to the respective points.
Build Strong Loadouts
Why are loadouts with builds important? In contest mode, it’s all about time. The faster you can switch your builds for each situation, the better your chances of bringing home the raid belt. It is important to be prepared for every situation.
With The Final Shape, new enemy and shield types have been introduced that could give you trouble. So make sure you have also unlocked the new subclass “Prismatic”.
Prepare Your Other Classes
What does that mean? Every team enters the raid with a selection of classes to provide a good balance of support, DPS, and crowd control. However, there could be encounters in contest mode that your current setup cannot handle. Therefore, it is important to switch to another class in case of emergency to provide more healing or buffs.
If you lack this flexibility, you may spend several minutes, if not hours, on an encounter, wasting unnecessary time.
Reach Power Level 1965
Why is power level 1965 so important? As in every Day One, Bungie states a necessary power level that players must reach to be raid-ready. For the “Rift of Redemption” raid, the required power level is 1965. If you haven’t reached this, you won’t be able to deal any damage to your opponents and will be taken out with a single shot. So make sure you bring the necessary power level.
Find the New Exotics from The Final Shape
Why are the new exotics important? New exotic items have one thing in common – they are either too weak or far too strong. So it doesn’t hurt to have the new exotics available for all classes to benefit from them in the raid. The new Warlock helmet “Speaker’s Sight” turns your grenades into healing turrets that you can distribute wildly.
The Titan chest piece “Dangerous Drive,” on the other hand, generates up to six seeking missiles and additionally increases the damage of other missiles you launch. You can also rely on your old exotics, but it doesn’t hurt to have alternatives on hand.
You are guaranteed to get one of the exotics after completing the legendary campaign, while the rest can be decoded by Rahool – provided you have leveled up with him.
Complete the Exotic Mission “Wild Card” and the Campaign
Why is this important? The exotic mission grants you the exotic sniper “Relentless Hunt,” while the campaign increases your power level. However, the real reason lies in the story.
Anyone who has followed Destiny for ten years certainly wants to know how the saga of light and darkness concludes. Therefore, it is important to understand the connections. For this reason, Bungie even advises completing these two things before approaching the raid.
Find an Alternative for the Well of Light
Why is an alternative for the Well important? The Well of Light was the ultimate ability that Warlocks have always brought into a raid. Even though the damage buff is inferior to the Titan’s Bubble, the Well provided far too powerful healing of your health and damage resistance. With “The Final Shape”, that has changed.
Bungie had to intervene after years of dominance and now the Well is just a shadow of its former self. It heals you less and offers worse resistance against bosses and normal enemies.
So it is important to find an alternative for boss fights where you can heal your mates and support them with buffs. The Titan looks like a good replacement. With his Void or Strand focus, he offers strong opportunities to buff or heal your team.
Those were all the important things we recommend before you tackle the Day One Raid from “The Final Shape”. Did you know that a new grenade launcher could rival the Withering Collector? This one comes from Season 24 and covers the entire battlefield with deadly puddles: Destiny 2: New Grenade Launcher Could Be Perfect for Add Clearing, Players Name It “Rapid-Fire Withering Collector”
