If you are still missing some exotic weapons or catalysts in Destiny 2, you should earn them before the release of the major autumn expansion “Beyond Light”. Because how and when you will get them afterwards is unclear. We show you which examples require urgency.
Why the urgency? Are you still missing some exotic weapons? Then there might be a need for urgency if you really want to earn these weapons. But why exactly?
With the upcoming autumn expansion “Beyond Light”, content such as locations and related activities will rotate. Some old content will be removed from the game into the so-called Destiny Content Vault, while other content will be newly introduced or return – also from Destiny 1.
However, due to this rotation, some exotic weapons and catalysts will no longer be available in the current way. Because their sources or associated locations will be lost. Bungie has promised to create alternative ways to make these weapons available later, but when and how exactly is unclear.
These could either be offered for purchase at the Cryptarch or wait 9 months for their reintroduction, as is the case with Eriana’s Vow. If you do not want to wait that long, you should therefore start to speed up. Due to the postponement of Beyond Light from September 22 to November 10, you now have at least a little more time for that.
By the way, there are also weapons and catalysts that might not initially seem affected. So you should take a closer look at the following lists.
Another reason to secure the most important exotics is that these weapons are not affected by the controversial weapon sunset – they remain permanently relevant:
These exotic weapons require your haste
The following exotic weapons will likely not be available anymore at the end of the Season 11 and the launch of Beyond Light, at least temporarily. For each weapon, we have linked how you can still get it until then.
- Whisper of the Worm – Sniper: You can get this strong sniper (one of the best alternatives for many bosses) through the Whisper mission on Io. And Io will be retired as a location in the next season. Thus, the source for this weapon will also disappear.
- Anarchy – Grenade Launcher: This weapon drops randomly from the final boss of the raid “The Reckoning”. Currently, it seems that with Beyond Light, there will only be 3 active raids: The new one in the Deep Stone Crypt on Europa, Last Wish in the Dreaming City, and Garden of Salvation on the Moon. Thus, the source for Anarchy will likely also disappear soon. By the way, you can currently farm Anarchy indefinitely: Destiny 2 breathes new life into 5 old raids, making them really worthwhile
- Perfected Outbreak – Pulse Rifle: If you have not yet started the quest, you should hurry. One of the steps leads you to Titan, which will also soon disappear into the Vault. Additionally, the mission The Hour Zero is based on the old tower, which will also land in the Vault soon.
- Legend of Acrius – Shotgun: The quest line for this exotic is tied to the Leviathan raid on the massive flagship of the Cabal Emperor Calus. However, the Leviathan is also one of the contents that will disappear into the Content Vault in November.
- Izanagi’s Burden – Sniper: To get Izanagi’s Burden, you need Guardian lenses, which are only available aboard the Leviathan. And this will move into the Content Vault in November.
- Bad Karma – Pulse Rifle: This weapon is obtained through the Tribute Hall aboard the Leviathan. Here too, you don’t have much time left before the location disappears.
- Pikass – Hand Cannon: During the quest, you need to open a chest on Io and complete a mission on Titan. But both locations will soon be gone.
- Fallen Image – Fusion Rifle: With this new exotic, you also have to complete contact events on Io at the beginning of the quest. Both the events and the location will disappear after Season 11.
- Tarrabah – SMG: This exotic submachine gun is dropped by the final boss of the raid “Crown of Sorrow” aboard the Leviathan, which will soon vanish along with the related content. You can currently farm this weapon indefinitely as well.
- Sleeper Simulant – Linear Fusion Rifle: The Sleeper Quest is largely tied to Mars, which is also among the contents that will rotate out of the game after Season 11.
- Thorn – Hand Cannon: The final quest step for the Thorn requires completing a special version of the strike “Savathûn’s Song” – and this takes place on Titan, which will soon rotate into the Content Vault.
- The Last Word – Hand Cannon: For The Last Word, you need to complete a mission on Titan as well. This is only possible for a limited time.
- Truth – Rocket Launcher: For the new exotic quest, you need to complete the Menagerie – an activity aboard the soon-to-disappear Leviathan.
- Lumina – Hand Cannon: The final quest step for Lumina also sends you into a strike on Mars. This location will not be available after November.
- Polaris Lance – Scout Rifle: The associated quest line comes from Mars, so your time is also running out if you don’t have the weapon yet.
- Worldline Zero – Sword: This exotic sword is obtained on Mars. But not for long.
- Rat King – Hand Cannon: The hunt for the Rat King begins on Titan, which will soon be retired to the Content Vault.
- MIDA Multi-Tool – Scout Rifle: The quest for the MIDA will be removed with the start of Year 4 due to content rotation
- Sturm – Hand Cannon: Similarly, the associated quest for Sturm will rotate into the Content Vault at the start of Season 12
What about the Exotics from the Black Armory?
The forges of the Black Armory were not mentioned by Bungie regarding the contents being removed after Season 11 that will go into the Content Vault. Additionally, all 4 forges are located on planets that will also remain with Beyond Light.
Nonetheless, some Guardians fear that the forges and the associated exotic weapons Jötunn (Fusion Rifle) and Le Monarque (Bow) may rotate out of the game to make room for new content. Recently, Bungie actually confirmed that these two weapons will not be available in the same manner starting Year 4.
So grab these 2 guns now if you still don’t have them: So easy to get the 2 exotic weapons from the Black Armory now
Urgency is also needed for these catalysts
Not only some weapon exotics might have their availability restricted with the release of Beyond Light, but also several exotic masterwork catalysts. If you really want to grab the following catalysts, you should hurry:
- Whisper of the Worm: You obtain and level this catalyst through the heroic Whisper mission on Io. However, this will disappear with Beyond Light along with the location.
- Legend of Acrius: You can obtain the catalyst for the weapon through the Prestige version of the Leviathan raid, which will soon be removed.
- Izanagi’s Burden: The catalyst is obtained through the heroic Menagerie with a fully leveled Chalice of Opulence. It seems you won’t have access to this after Season 11, as the Menagerie takes place aboard the Leviathan.
- Bad Karma: Like the weapon itself, the catalyst comes from the Menagerie aboard the Leviathan. And it won’t be long until it is gone.
- Sleeper Simulant: The catalyst is obtained through the Leviathan raid tract Star’s Choose on Prestige difficulty, which along with the main raid, another tract, and the Leviathan itself will soon vanish.
- Polaris Lance: The catalyst is obtained during the final step of the weapon quest on Mars, which won’t be available for long.
- Telesto: The catalyst for this infamous fusion rifle is obtained from the Prestige version of the raid tract World Eater, which will soon disappear along with the Leviathan. To level the catalyst, you must complete all verses of the Lost Prophecies from Brother Vance on Mercury. But Mercury will also not be available for long.
- Worldline Zero: The catalyst is obtained through any sword kills. However, you level it by hitting different Escalation Protocol bosses on Mars with the sword at their weak spots for 5 consecutive weeks. Due to content rotation, this will no longer be possible for much longer.
- Skyburner’s Oath: According to the “This Week at Bungie” blog from August 20, this catalyst will also not be available in the same way at the start of Year 4.
- Perfected Outbreak: The mission Zero Hour takes place in the old tower and will disappear with the end of Year 3 into the Vault.
- Huckleberry: According to the “This Week at Bungie” blog from August 20, this catalyst will also not be available in the same way at the start of Year 4.
