In Destiny, some Guardians criticize the Treasures of Ages: The loot pool is way too large.
In Bungie’s MMO shooter, there have been several “Mystery Packages” in the form of treasures: From Radiant Treasures to Treasures of the Lost to Treasures of the Dawning. With the Age of Triumph, these items were replaced by the Treasures of Ages.
You can earn these “Treasures of Ages” by playing the heroic SIVA Crisis Strike playlist, the weekly story playlist, and the weekly Crucible playlist. This way, three free Treasures of Ages can be obtained per account each week. If you want more, you can purchase them in the Eververse for real money.
The most coveted loot in the Treasures of Ages: The Triumph Set!
The Treasures of Ages have a massive loot pool: It can contain Silver Dust, Chromatin, XP boosters, ornaments, gestures, emblems, armor pieces, ghost shells, masks, shaders, Sparrows, emotes, and ships – a whole bunch of stuff that has been available in Destiny before.
Additionally, there are new items in the Treasures of Ages, which have a low drop chance – and are therefore particularly sought after. There are new weapon ornaments, two ships, and three shaders – and foremost a Triumph Armor.
Recently, some critical voices have been raised on Reddit: “The Treasures of Ages can contain way too much!” If you are only after the new armor pieces, you would have to open an incredible number of treasures and always hope for the necessary luck. The chance of getting exactly what you desire is far too low.
A user complains that he will never get the “Age of Triumph” set. Nor will he get the shader “Laurel Wreath,” which is only available if you can complete a set.
Eververse Drops Test – 11600 Silver for a complete Triumph Set
In the description of these treasures, it states that they most likely contain an item that you do not yet own. The Redditor fxmercenary investigated this matter and tested how likely this “most likely” really is.
He allegedly received 11600 Silver as a gift, which he used for this experiment – and needed it all! He writes that as preparation he bought all the missing gestures, emotes, sparrows, ships, etc. with Silver Dust, so that “most likely” only the new items should drop.
The end result: He needed the complete 11600 Silver to receive just one complete Triumph Set for his Titan. In the second to last treasure, there was the helmet that he was still missing. In addition, he received tons of consumables and Chromatin. However, he also got all the new ships and shaders.
He concludes: Although he had already completed all his collections in advance (for gestures, shaders, etc.), the drop rate for the Triumph armor pieces is extremely low. However, he is now very satisfied with the look of his Titan:
This test by a single user is of course not representative, but it underscores the criticism of many Guardians towards the Treasures of Ages.
