The Nine are currently one of the most mysterious races in the Destiny universe. They are the rulers of the Jovians, the worlds beyond the Reef. These were colonized during the Golden Age. They are in contact with the Last City in the form of “Xur”. He is the agent of the Nine who spends every weekend in the Tower or at the Vestian Outpost, offering his wares and earning Strange Coins.
Osiris is said to have once met with the Nine on Europa, one of Jupiter’s moons. Apart from that, little is known about the Nine. Except that they grow tentacles out of their faces…
Maybe Destiny 2 will lead us into these worlds where we will interact with the Nine.
What’s up with the Vex?
The Vex are perhaps the most intriguing enemy race in Destiny. Destiny 2 will focus on the Cabal, but we may also learn more about the Vex.
Several sources indicate that the Vex are actually a liquid – liquid organisms that use the machines as bodies. It is known that the Vex can exert influence on Guardians, they can change them. Stories about the Glass Chamber or the new raid ornaments with the Robo look underline this: Here, the hunter already has a “Vex foot”.
At one point, Bungie’s plan was to release a DLC centered around the Vex called “Vex Void”. However, this fell victim to restructuring. In a leaked video, there were brief scenes from it, including the liquid of the Vex. Players were supposed to receive more information about this race originally. Perhaps Bungie will catch up with this in some form with Destiny 2.
Will we ever encounter an Ahamkara?
The term “Ahamkara” is familiar to many Guardians. Some pieces of armor, like Ahamkara’s Spine, The Claws of Ahamkara, or the Skull of the Terrible Ahamkara, carry this term in their names.
The Ahamkara are a dragon-like species that came to the solar system at the same time as the Traveler and were supposedly wiped out by the Guardians. The bones of the Ahamkara are powerful objects that Guardians – especially Warlocks and Hunters – use for their purposes.
The Ahamkara were said to be able to grant wishes. However, one had to enter into a bargain, the price of which was considered too high. Therefore, the Ahamkara were also hunted.
Here, an item introduced with the Age of Triumph becomes interesting: The Bones of Eao. Eao was apparently an Ahamkara whose bones grant better rewards in the featured raids. However, these items state: “I grant you a favor, oh my bearer, but the debt must be repaid when the time comes.”
The question is: When do we have to repay the debt for using the Bones of Eao? Possibly in Destiny 2…
