The MMORPG Dragon’s Prophet was discontinued on May 29. However, a listing for the game has surprisingly appeared on Steam, announcing its return. Nonetheless, players are skeptical.
What is Dragon’s Prophet? Dragons played a significant role in this MMORPG as it was your task to tame, raise, and train the creatures similar to Pokémon. You could then use them as mounts or in battle. Each dragon type had different abilities and provided the player with various bonuses.
In addition, exploring the game world, completing quests, battling monsters, dungeons, and guild wars were also on the agenda in Dragon’s Prophet.
Something is not right…
Why was the game discontinued? After Dragon’s Prophet was discontinued in 2017, it apparently came to a definitive end on May 29. The current publisher at that time, Gamigo, stated that it was no longer possible to finance further operations.
What has happened now? Surprisingly, the listing for Dragon’s Prophet has surfaced on Steam. The MMORPG is supposed to return through the platform on August 10. The new operator is BOBYGAME.
Why should one be skeptical? BOBYGAME appears to be a newly founded company, as there are currently no signs of other games from the firm. That in itself wouldn’t be problematic. But there have already been warnings that something may not be quite right here.
On reddit, a supposed employee of the original publisher Infernum reported some doubts about whether the new version is a legal version.
It could possibly be a private server. I used to work for the EU company that originally published this game (Infernum), and it seems that they are using exactly the same website (design and functionality) as us, just with a new forum board and a support portal since they don’t have access to it. They also use the same “Dragons of the Week” events as we do.
Their privacy policy states that the company is called “Dragon’s Prophet Games GmbH,” which according to the German company register does not exist. It also mentions Infernum, the original publisher, in their privacy terms, confirming my theory that they simply copied and re-uploaded the old website.

Doubts are also surfacing on Steam regarding whether this is an official version of the MMORPG. There, Azil states:
Be careful, this is a private server pretending to be legitimate. It will be shut down pretty quickly. Don’t spend money on it!
– Their terms of service refer to another company
– BOBYGAME is not a valid company and is not registered
– The website was copied 1:1 from the actual publishers of the game
– They prohibit people from discussing these things
– The company BOBYGAME owns no trademarks for the game
– The situation has already been reported to Valve by various individuals
– The parent company has been made aware by numerous people (and confirmed this when they responded to my email) and is taking action against it

We wanted to send a message to BOBYGAME through the website to inquire about the return of Dragon’s Prophet. However, we were unable to send a message to support through the system as our newly created account was not recognized.
We also contacted the development studio Runewaker to inquire about the situation. As soon as we receive a response, we will update the article accordingly.
