Eden Eternal is an anime-MMORPG in a fairy tale world that was shut down in 2021. Now the developers are bringing the game back.
The MMORPG first appeared in its global version in 2011, where it started as an open beta. The developers X-Legend Entertainment handed over the role of publisher to Aeria Games, a company that is now part of Gamigo.
In 2021, Gamigo decided to discontinue Eden Eternal, “because the game could no longer sustain itself” (via massivelyOP). In February, they closed the possibility for new registrations and the real money shop – by the end of April 2021, the servers of Eden Eternal finally went offline.
Developers want to self-publish the MMORPG now
X-Legend is a development company responsible for numerous MMORPGs – including Aura Kingdom, Grand Fantasia, Twin Saga, and Eden Eternal. They have handed over the publisher role for nearly all of their games to Gamigo. But now they are gradually reclaiming their MMORPGs.
Aura Kingdom and Grand Fantasia recently migrated – back to the developers’ own service, away from the Gamigo Group. The German company is known for collecting MMORPGs (and killing some of them).
Now X-Legend wants to bring Eden Eternal back to life and has already set up a website. “We are going back to where we started,” is the motto under the title.
What kind of game is this? Eden Eternal is a free MMORPG with anime graphics, visually reminiscent of a slightly more modern version of the classic NosTale. You create a character and can switch between many different classes as you unlock them.
Players ride on various mounts through the game world and can attack enemies from their backs.
The MMORPG offers PvE content such as dungeons and boss fights, but PvP is also possible. Additionally, guilds can own their own cities, where players can then engage in housing.

Users on reddit are excited about the return
In the MMORPG subreddit, users are already discussing the relaunch of Eden Eternal. Most are excited and hope that the MMORPG will fare better without Gamigo as the publisher. Players are also looking forward to the other games from the developers.
We summarize a few of the voices for you:
- Ksradrik: “I hope the self-published games won’t be as pay2win as those of Aeria Games.”
- TsuyoiQuji: “As far as I remember, Eden Eternal had the best class system of [X-Legend’s] games.”
- bloomi: “Oh my God! Eden Eternal was the WoW of my youth!”
- NilTheNoble: “I love Eden Eternal. One of the mechanics is that you can switch your class anytime. I’m really looking forward to it.”
What do you think about the return of Eden Eternal? Do you think it’s good that X-Legend Entertainment is now taking over the publisher role themselves? Did you play the MMORPG before? Will you start again when the relaunch takes place? Feel free to let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO!
