After several years, the Trapper is finally good again in Dead by Daylight. New buffs are supposed to help him catch up with the other killers.
In Dead by Daylight there are now several dozen killers. The balance is constantly changing, but one of the murderers has been at the bottom for years – the Trapper. This is particularly unfortunate, as he is the poster child of Dead by Daylight. After all, he was the first killer, adorns the cover of the game, and is also the killer that new players start with by default.
Why is the Trapper bad? The Trapper has some disadvantages compared to many other killers. He has to spend a lot of time collecting the traps and placing them in suitable locations. At the same time, however, attentive survivors can disable all of his traps. A single survivor can neutralize all his power.
Additionally, the Trapper’s traps were heavily limited. Only 6 are laid out on each map, in addition to those with which the killer starts.
The newest killer is currently the Xenomorph – also known as “Alien”:
What is being changed about the Trapper? With patch 7.3.0, the Trapper gets a few necessary improvements. They are:
- When a trap is placed, the Trapper will receive a speed buff of 7.5% for 5 seconds.
- Now 8 traps spawn on the map, which the Trapper can pick up and place (previously 6 traps per map).
Even though they are just two small changes, they should have a significant impact. Two more traps provide more covered play space, and the speed boost could prove helpful in particularly annoying loops.
Is there more to come? Yes. In the hotfix that follows the major patch, there will be another improvement. The 8 traps will now spawn near the generators. This is to ensure that the Trapper does not have to move so far from his actual area of influence to collect a trap from the farthest corner of a map.
What do you think of the changes to the Trapper? Good ideas to finally make him better again? Or does he need much more?
Dead by Daylight also brings an end to face camping in the same patch, by the way.
