The Trickster has received powerful buffs in Dead by Daylight. From today, he is a real threat to the survivors.
A new patch is live in Dead by Daylight. Update 5.1.0 is a so-called “Mid-Chapter Patch” and therefore does not bring new killers or maps, but primarily improvements, bug fixes, and balance changes. Especially the previously weakest killer, Trickster, can rejoice. He is now a solid choice and fun to play.
What was the problem? Although the Trickster is fun to play, he has been considered the weakest killer since release. His popularity among players dropped rapidly – from sex symbol to the back of the closet, and hardly anyone wanted to play him.
This was primarily due to the fact that he felt like a weaker Huntress and his ability had too many restrictions. Often, it was better to simply chase survivors and hit them in close combat rather than use his knife ability – and in that case, any other killer would have been better.
What has been changed? The latest patch raises some values for Trickster. The number of knives required to inflict a wound is reduced, and the duration of the “Main Event” ability is significantly increased. Specifically, Trickster received the following adjustments:
- The maximum number of bleeding wounds has been reduced from 8 to 6.
- Bleeding wounds now expire faster. Within 15 seconds while walking or within 20 seconds while running.
- The decay of bleeding wounds now starts after 10 seconds (previously after 20 seconds).
- Main Event starts one second earlier to throw knives.
- It now requires 30 hits with the knives to activate Main Event.
- The Trickster now has 30 seconds to start Main Event (previously 10 seconds).
What else is in the patch? Otherwise, the patch primarily brings a series of bug fixes that led to crashes or affected stuns. It should now be less common for survivors to stun a killer and immediately receive a hit afterwards.
However, an important change has been made to the keys. They can no longer open hatches when they have no charges left. This makes it possible for “Franklin’s Demise” to ensure that keys cannot open the hatch.
Finally, the “Raccoon City Police Station” can be activated again and is now playable. Sacrifices associated with this map are also possible again.
Have you tried the “new” Trickster already? Is he now decent? Or have the developers made him too strong?
