The latest chapter of Dead by Daylight has been released. You can play as the Nemesis from Resident Evil – and there are even zombies!
The latest chapter of Dead by Daylight is live. In the “Resident Evil” chapter, there are three new characters. The new killer “Nemesis” comes with nasty ranged attacks and zombies, while Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy join the survivors. For the first time, survivors now have – through perks – a kind of weapon they can use to slow down the killer.
This is what Nemesis, the new killer, can do
The Nemesis becomes stronger as his mutation rate increases. This grows as more survivors become infected with the T-Virus. Initially, he is just a standard killer in terms of movement speed (115% or 4.6 m/s) and terror radius (32 meters).
However, with his special attack, he can extend a tentacle that hits survivors in a small target area, infecting them with the T-Virus and causing damage.
If the infection rate increases this way, the killer’s special attack is also enhanced 2 times. The following features are added:
- Infection Rate 2: The tentacle strike can also destroy pallets and breakable walls.
- Infection Rate 3: The range of the tentacle strike is significantly increased.
Zombies as an additional danger: What’s particularly cool is that the Nemesis also brings two zombies that shuffle around the map. They move quite slowly but can infect survivors with the T-Virus or cause damage. Stun (e.g., by a pallet) only temporarily takes out the zombies, as they respawn after a while. This led to some absurdly funny moments on the PTR.
These are the perks of the Nemesis: As usual, the Nemesis comes with three unique perks. At the beginning, only the Nemesis can use these perks. However, if you play the character up to the corresponding levels in the Bloodweb (30, 35, and 40), you can unlock the perks as a “teachable” version for other killers:
- Lethal Pursuer: At the beginning of a trial, the aura of all survivors is shown to you for 7 / 8 / 9 seconds.
- Hysteria: When you injure a survivor and change their health state from Healthy to Injured, all injured survivors suffer from the Oblivious status for 20 / 25 / 30 seconds. Hysteria can only be triggered once every 30 seconds.
- Eruption: When you damage a generator, its aura is shown in yellow. When you put a survivor into the dying state (= they go down), all marked generators explode and lose 6% additional progress, and their marking disappears. Survivors who repair a generator during the explosion scream and suffer from the Incapacitated effect for 12 / 14 / 16 seconds (can hardly perform actions like repairing, healing, or cleansing totems). Eruption has a cooldown of 30 seconds.
This is what the new survivors can do
Like the killer, Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy come with three unique perks that can be unlocked for other survivors. The perks are a good mix of aids for newcomers as well as tactical components for veterans, allowing for fun combinations.
Jill’s perks are:
- Counterforce: You cleanse totems 20% faster. When you cleanse a totem, you see the farthest totem from you for 2 / 3 / 4 seconds and you gain a stackable, additional bonus of 20% on the cleansing speed.
- Resurgence: You immediately gain 40% / 45% / 50% healing progress when you free yourself from the hook or are rescued from the hook.
- Blast Mine: Blast Mine is activated when you have repaired a generator to a total of 66% progress. After you have repaired a generator for 3 seconds, you can press the active ability button to install a Blast Mine on the generator, which remains active for 35 / 40 / 45 seconds. The corresponding generator is visibly marked for all survivors. Only one Blast Mine can be attached to a generator at a time. If the killer damages the prepared generator, the trap explodes, the killer is stunned, and all nearby players are blinded.
The perks of Leon are:
- Bite the Bullet: You create no noise while healing. Failed skill checks during healing do not create a noise notification for the killer, and the progress is only reset by 3% / 2% / 1%.
- Flashbang: After you repair 70% / 60% / 50% progress on any generator, Flashbang activates. Enter a locker while carrying no item and press the active ability button to craft a Flashbang. The Flashbang has a recharge, creates a noise notification on throw, and blinds.
- Rookie Spirit: Complete 5 / 4 / 3 Good or Perfect skill checks to activate Rookie Spirit for the rest of the trial. Once active, you see the auras of all damaged generators.
How much does the chapter cost? The “Resident Evil” chapter can only be purchased in the shop for real money at a price of €11.99 or for Auric Cells (premium currency). It is not possible to unlock the characters with Shiny Shards. This is aggravating, but common with licensed characters from other franchises.
What do you think of the new “Dead by Daylight” chapter? Do you like the characters from Resident Evil?
