The most powerful perk in Dead by Daylight is becoming significantly weaker. Survivors must say goodbye to the old Decisive Strike.
In Dead by Daylight, there are several perks that the community considers to be overpowered. Some of these perks are so strong that you can practically see them on every survivor. One of these perks is Decisive Strike. It often gives survivors a second chance. At higher ranks, almost every survivor uses it – but that will change soon, as it is getting a rework.
What does Decisive Strike do? Decisive Strike is an “Anti-Tunnel perk”. It is mainly intended to help survivors who are repeatedly focused on by the killer in quick succession. After being unhooked, a timer of 60 seconds starts. If the killer picks up the corresponding survivor again within these 60 seconds, the survivor can complete a skill check. If successful, the killer is stunned, allowing the survivor to escape.
This perk is so powerful that it is practically always used in matches at more experienced ranks. Hardly any survivor gives up this powerful perk.
Decisive Strike is also part of our Top 10 perks for survivors:
What will be changed? Decisive Strike will receive a series of additional conditions that will deactivate it prematurely, rendering it useless. This will make the perk useful only in a smaller percentage of situations.
If the survivor performs any of the following actions during the 60-second timer, the perk will be immediately deactivated and can no longer be triggered:
- Repair a generator
- Heal (yourself or another player)
- Ritualize a totem
- Sabotage a hook
- Rescue another survivor from a hook
What does the change mean? The adjustment ensures that Decisive Strike will only be useful in situations where the survivor is actually being “tunneled”, meaning directly pursued again. If the survivor has time to hide and engage in other tasks, then the perk can no longer be used.
Many survivors used it to “run in front of the killer” in the last seconds to distract him from another survivor and then stun him directly with the perk. This will no longer be possible unless they have not performed any meaningful tasks in the meantime.
When will the change come? It will still take a few weeks until the change to Decisive Strike goes live. The adjustment is expected to arrive with the next major chapter, which is anticipated in March. The smaller mid-chapter patch, which will be released next week, will not contain this update.
What do you think of these changes? Are they sensible innovations to Decisive Strike? Or would you have had a different idea?
