Dead by Daylight presumably wants the “Stranger Things” license back. This could bring the new killer “Vecna” who is murdering in the current season.
Update, 06/28/2022, 10:00 AM: The leaker has since retracted part of their statement. They are no longer entirely sure if work is actually being done on Vecna as a killer. However, Netflix has apparently approached Behaviour, and this part seems to be correct, which is why Vecna still has “a high probability” of making an appearance.
Original report: Fans of Dead by Daylight are used to fresh content coming into the game every few months. Alongside cool original creations, the developers often strike deals with well-known franchises like Halloween or A Nightmare on Elm Street to bring killers like Michael Myers or Freddy Krueger into the game.
A somewhat infamous example is Stranger Things, which brought the Demogorgon and had to leave the game after a few years. Now the Demogorgon could return – and even bring back a killer from the latest season of the horror mystery series on Netflix.
What happened back then? Dead by Daylight had a cooperation with Netflix and the series “Stranger Things” in the past. At that time, there was the Demogorgon as a killer, as well as Steve and Nancy as characters and the “Hawkins Lab” as its own map. However, the license expired a while ago and many Stranger Things contents disappeared from the game. Only those who owned the characters back then can still use them.
There has been much speculation about why Netflix did not renew the licenses with Behaviour. At that time, it was assumed that Netflix would retain many of these licenses as they want to enter the gaming market more strongly.
What is this leak about? The Twitter account “DbDLeaks” has revealed that Netflix allegedly approached Behaviour Interactive to propose a new collaboration.
This would mean that the “old” Stranger Things chapter could be back in the game by Christmas 2022. The Demogorgon and also Nancy Wheeler and Steve Harrington could return as characters and once again cause chaos in the world of the Entity.
At the same time, the leak indicates that a new character named “Vecna” will be introduced in the game – that would be a new killer.
Who is Vecna? Vecna is the antagonist of the current fourth season of “Stranger Things” on Netflix. The series is released in two parts, and the release of the finale is still pending – the last two episodes with the finale in feature-length format are set to release on July 1, 2022.
Vecna kills in the series in an extremely brutal manner by entering the victim’s mind and plunging his claws into the target’s head. To beings outside the mindscape, this murder looks even more gruesome: the victim slowly lifts off the ground before their bones break in all possible angles and their eyes pop out.

Fans of Dungeons & Dragons may already know Vecna, as he is also a dark antagonist in the pen-and-paper game and a terrifying lich. In the Netflix series, he looks even more sinister.
Season 4 of Stranger Things is definitely not for the faint-hearted – and thus Vecna is the perfect candidate for a new killer in Dead by Daylight.
Is the leak trustworthy? Basically yes. The Twitter account DbDLeaks has already made correct predictions over the years, accurately predicting killers or other collaborations. Although there have been misjudgments and “false” leaks, these have almost always concerned minor details, such as the exact start time of a special in-game event. For the major leaks, DbDLeaks has earned a good reputation as reliable.
However, it should be considered that the leak only speaks of negotiations and nothing is set in stone yet. However, considering how popular Stranger Things is with Season 4 and how Dead by Daylight has developed in recent years, it seems quite likely that a renewed collaboration will come to fruition.
Nevertheless, one should regard the leak with caution until an official announcement.
Would you be excited for the gruesome Vecna? Or are you afraid of an “On/Off relationship” between Stranger Things and Dead by Daylight, which might end again in a few years?
