A killer in Dead by Daylight gets his voice back. With it come all the many offensive jokes that are making a return.
The killers in the horror game Dead by Daylight are not particularly talkative. Aside from grunting and moaning during stuns, you shouldn’t expect much. However, there are a few exceptions, such as Pinhead. He remained silent for months after his release. Now he is getting his voice back – and better than ever.
What was the problem? When Pinhead was released 4 months ago, the release was relatively peculiar. Although the killer was fully playable, all his voice lines were disabled shortly after – the killer remained silent. Whether using his abilities or stunning a palette, there were simply no sound effects for that.
At that time, players suspected that Behaviour did this because the voice lines were used for sexual innuendos and numerous memes. For instance, Pinhead always said during his teleportation (translated): “The box. You opened it. And I have come.”
And because the internet is the internet, “And I have come” became the basis for numerous jokes and memes.
However, Behaviour has never clarified why the voice lines were disabled. It is suspected that there were legal reasons.
What has happened now? In the PTR for the upcoming patch 5.5.0, the voice lines of Pinhead have now been reactivated – and it gets even better. These are no longer the “old” voice lines from the previous patch, but the voice of the original Pinhead from the Hellraiser films. Apparently, Behaviour has now reached an agreement with the rights holder and is now using the voice of Doug Bradley.
Here are the new voice lines in the video:
Community celebrates it: The return of the voice or rather the new voice of Pinhead is celebrated by most players. This also leads to all the memes from the past months being dug up and cheerfully posted up and down in the subreddit.
At least this story finds an end, even though the reason for the absence of the voice for such a long time has not been completely clarified.
Even though the community welcomes the return of Pinhead’s voice lines, another topic is currently causing discussions: The Cannibal loses his masks as they were used racially.
