In Dead by Daylight, the long-awaited 2vs8 mode has started. If you want to try it, there isn’t much time left.
After many years, Dead by Daylight has finally released a brand new game mode, and one that has been demanded since the early days of the horror game: 2v8.
As the name suggests, 2 killers compete against 8 survivors. There are more deaths, more generators, and plenty of chaos. The new mode focuses more on action and less on stealth, leading to a slightly faster gameplay feel. The hooks have also been removed for this.
If you want to try the new mode, you should hurry. For now, the mode is just an experiment and will be deactivated after 2 weeks.
What are the features of 2v8? To ensure that Dead by Daylight functions with double the number of players, the developers have made some changes. These include:
- There are no perks.
- 8 out of 13 generators must be repaired.
- The aura of survivors is shown whenever a generator is repaired.
- There are no hooks. Downed survivors can be teleported directly to a cage.
- After survivors are hooked 2 times, they can heal themselves.
- There are several trapdoors at the end.
- Games are played on larger maps than usual.
Which killers are available? For the first version of this game mode, a total of 5 killers are available:
- Trapper
- Wraith
- Hillbilly
- Nurse
- Huntress
The killers have slightly adjusted abilities. For example, the Trapper starts with more traps, while the Huntress has more throwing axes, or the Wraith can move significantly faster while cloaked.
What can the survivors do? Unlike the normal game modes, there are no perks – neither for killers nor for survivors. Instead, you choose one of four “classes” as a survivor, each of which comes with small advantages.
- Guide: You see the aura of all generators nearby. Once you begin repairing, the generator is revealed to all team members. If other survivors help in the repair, they receive a bonus on great skill checks and make less noise while repairing.
- Medic: You see the aura of injured allies nearby and can heal them faster. Other survivors nearby can also heal team members faster.
- Escapist: You see the aura of pallets, windows, and breakable walls nearby. When you are injured, you run slightly faster than other survivors. When you start running, all survivors nearby receive a short speed boost.
- Scout: You see the aura of killers whenever they destroy a pallet or damage a generator. Other survivors see the killer whenever the killer is in your line of sight.
Until when can you play the mode? If you want to check out 2v8, you shouldn’t wait too long. The mode is only playable for exactly 2 weeks, until August 8, 2024. After that, the mode will disappear again, and the developers will evaluate how well it was received and what improvements should still be made.
