A perk in Dead by Daylight allows maximum trolling – or punishing trolls. This is due to (once again) a curious bug.
Dead by Daylight and amusingly annoying bugs are a pair that simply cannot be separated. Even with patch 5.3.0, which brought the survivor Mikaela Reid into the game, there are still some issues. So many that some perks and cards have even been disabled. However, one perk was overlooked, and the survivors are currently causing a lot of nonsense with it.
What kind of perk is it? It’s about the perk Clairvoyance of Mikaela Reid. The perk actually only allows the character, after cleansing a totem, to see many items (such as generators or exit gates) for a total of 10 seconds. A perk that provides a bit more clarity and essentially means a little more knowledge for the survivors – if it weren’t for a crucial bug.
What kind of bug is it? Clairvoyance allows you to “push” other survivors and even the killer while channeling and when the character walks (i.e., doesn’t run). Apparently, the character using the perk gains superpowers and can simply push other survivors or the killer back – something that is otherwise not possible in the game.
How bad is this for the killer? Even though it is, of course, an unintended advantage for the survivor, the impact on the killer is relatively minor. This is mainly because this bug only occurs when the survivor walks – and then the killer is faster anyway and can simply ignore the push.
However, there are also a few cases in which the killer can actually be disturbed by it – for example, directly after a hit when the killer is momentarily massively slowed down. Then it is possible to “push the killer off a cliff”
What are players doing with it? Even though there are certainly some trolls who misuse the perk, there are also some “heroes” who share their videos in the subreddit and show how to use the perk for good.
PugDudeStudios, for example, shows how he pushes another survivor “out of the map” with the perk, ensuring that she wins the game and can no longer mock the killer. Especially teabagging or spamming emotes at the exit is often seen as toxic.
Even better, Lekakeny uses it to save a survivor from a troll. There are some places on the maps where survivors can “trap” other survivors simply by standing in their way. This can happen especially when cleansing totems. The trapped survivor is then forced to wait for the other player to let them go.
Lekakeny comes to the hero’s rescue with “Clairvoyance”. She pushes the trapping Claudette aside so that the other survivor can escape – only to then push Claudette into a corner herself and hold her for a bit. Sometimes it’s nice to give trolls a taste of their own medicine.
Will this be fixed? It can be assumed so. Even though Dead by Daylight currently has more pressing issues and needs to reactivate many map sacrifices and one perk, such a bug should not last forever as it offers too much exploit potential. Especially against some killers, Clairvoyance can also be used to temporarily have no collision – and thus evade an Oni.
You should not exploit such bugs, by the way, unless you are playing with friends and want to annoy them a little. Because exploiting such exploits has already led to bans in the past if other players report you for it.
