Mikaela Reid will change Dead by Daylight. On the test server, she is invincible – because she makes survivors immortal.
Immediately after the developers of Dead by Daylight announced the new survivor Mikaela Reid, the PTB (test server) went online. There, the new perks and abilities of Mikaela could be tried out directly. It only took a few minutes before the first players noticed: something is very wrong. Because survivors can heal faster than a killer can injure them. The culprit is the new perk “Boon: Healing Circle”.
What does the perk do? With the perk “Boon: Healing Circle”, Mikaela can bless a totem. The blessing ensures that within a radius of 28 meters, all survivors receive a strengthening effect. This provides for 2 things:
- Survivors can heal themselves when injured without using a medkit.
- Survivors receive a 100% bonus on healing speed when they heal another survivor.
What is the problem? The problem becomes evident when two survivors heal a third survivor. The healing is then completed faster than the cooldown animation after a killer’s strike:
In plain terms:
The killer injures one survivor, and when two teammates heal that injured survivor right on the spot, they are already healed before the killer can land the next blow.
Or in other words: As long as the survivors are together in the healing circle of the totem, they cannot be downed.
In the corresponding video, the killer even uses “Sloppy Butcher” (“Sloppy Butcher”), which slightly increases the required healing time. Nevertheless, the killer does not manage to hit quickly enough to down a survivor.
The actual reason is also that two areas of the boon totems overlap in the video, and the bonuses stack. This makes healing possible in under 3 seconds.
Community reacts with amusement and anger: The reactions in the community are humorous on one side, but quite negative on the other. They wonder how the developers could consider such a perk a good idea.
It seems beyond question that Mikaela Reid and her perks must undergo several nerfs and adjustments before her expected release in mid-October, so that the witch can enter the game without issues. Otherwise, the killer may face very dark times ahead.
What do you think about the perk? Are you also angry with the developers? Or is it okay because test servers are made for such things?
