The knight will soon kill in Dead by Daylight. When he executes someone, it is quite dark… and not for the faint of heart!
In Dead by Daylight, it’s about surviving against the killer – or as the killer, to properly “clean up” and eliminate the other players. This can be done in several ways. Most of the time, it happens on the butcher hook with a long victim process, but there are also the so-called “Moris.” And the next killer, the knight, has a pretty dark Mori that makes the murder of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones seem humane.
What is a “Mori”? The term “Mori” comes from the offering “Memento Mori” – killers in Dead by Daylight can use these to gain the right to directly murder one or more survivors – with their own hands. Each killer has a unique, special animation for this, that fits their character. Michael Myers, for instance, uses his knife to stab the victim in the chest, while the witch tears out her victim’s intestines and eats them.
This is what the knight’s Mori looks like: When the knight begins his Mori animation, it resembles a pretty nasty beating action.
The knight points his sword at the survivor and simultaneously summons all three guardians, who come into play one after the other.
The assassin lifts the survivor by the chin and stabs him in the side with the dagger, only to directly hand him over to the laughing jailer, who presses his branding iron to the survivor’s neck.
As if that wasn’t enough torture, along comes the Carnivex and slams his large axe deep into the survivor’s right shoulder.
Only now does the knight also start moving, who has been watching benevolently until now.
The Zweihänder is raised and rammed from above into the survivor’s chest, before the blade is yanked out with a firm jerk – and the survivor is finally released from the torture.
It is actually only missing that the individual guardians quietly say “For the Watch…” during this.
By the way: Soon, it could change how killers “earn” their Mori. The developers have plans to make the Mori the grand finale of a match.
This is the community’s reaction: The Mori animations are always a hot topic of discussion in the community and quite popular. The more brutal and gruesome, the better – after all, Dead by Daylight frequently references bloody slasher films that thrive on such effects. Accordingly, the reactions to the Mori animation on YouTube are quite positive:
- “This is truly a fantastic Mori. I wouldn’t have thought that other beings would join in.”
- “So far the coolest Mori in the game. Increases my excitement to finally play this killer.”
- “As the streamer Otzdarva said, this doesn’t look like a Mori, rather like a ‘Fatality’.”
- “The perfect judgment for a trolling survivor.”
What do you think of the knight’s Mori animation? A cool way to eliminate a survivor from the match? Or are the developers going overboard with the bloodiness?
