A new killer for Dead by Daylight has been revealed. She no longer has hands – but that doesn’t stop her from cruelly killing survivors.
A new killer is soon to be released in Dead by Daylight. “The Artist” is the killer who was previously known from a leak a few days ago, thus confirming the rumors. The chapter “Portrait of a Murder” will be part of patch 5.4.0 of Dead by Daylight, bringing a new killer, a new map, and a new survivor.
What can the killer “The Artist” do?
Carmina Mora, now known only as “The Artist” or “Die Künstlerin” in Dead by Daylight, has suffered a rather terrible fate. She watched her own brother die, for whose death she blamed herself. Crows saved her from suicide, after which she drew surreal images. When she later confronted corrupt politicians, it ended in torture, where her hands and tongue were cut off with a blade. When ravens killed her tormentors, she was pulled into the realm of the Entity through the fog.
Her missing limbs are now replaced with black ink that she can shape into hands and claws at will. Carmina’s voice now only emits crow sounds, and her entire behavior resembles that of these birds.
In-game, she has the ability to summon up to 3 crows. The crows appear at her location and remain passive for a time. Once the “Active Ability” button is activated, all summoned crows fly straight ahead. Survivors within the first few meters of the crow’s flight are injured. If no survivor is hit, the crows continue to fly, passing through objects. Survivors who are now hit are merely marked and surrounded by a swarm of crows that they can shake off.
If survivors are hit by a second crow while already marked by a swarm, they take damage.
Her other stats all correspond to the standard. She has a movement speed of 115% (4.6 m/s), a terror radius of 32 meters, and an average size.
The Artist is thus able to track and injure survivors from a distance and through walls.

The 3 new perks of the killer “The Artist”
As is customary in Dead by Daylight, the Artist also comes with three unique perks. Initially, only she possesses these perks, but they can later be unlocked for all other killers via the Bloodweb. Her perks are:
- Grim Embrace – Each time the killer hooks a survivor for the first time, they receive a token. Once 4 tokens are collected, Grim Embrace activates. All generators are blocked for 20 / 25 / 30 seconds and the aura of obsession is revealed for 4 seconds.
- Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance – At the start of the match, 4 hooks are transformed into Scourge Hooks. The killer sees the aura of these hooks in white. Each time a survivor is hooked on such a hook, the generator with the most progress explodes and loses 9% / 12% / 15% of its progress and starts losing additional progress. Survivors currently repairing this generator scream and thus reveal their position.
- Hex: Pentimento – The killer can see the aura of cleansed totems. The killer can perform a ritual to reignite destroyed totems. The more totems that are reignited, the stronger the effect:
- 1 Totem: Survivor repair speed is reduced by 20% / 25% / 30%.
- 2 Totems: Survivor healing speed is reduced by 20% / 25% / 30%.
- 3 Totems: The regeneration speed of survivors on the ground is reduced by 20% / 25% / 30%.
- 4 Totems: The speed at which exit gates are opened is reduced by 20% / 25% / 30%.
- 5 Totems: The Entity blocks all totems.
If a reignited totem is removed, the remains will be consumed by the Entity.
The 3 new perks of the survivor Jonah Vasquez
Jonah also comes with 3 unique perks that can also be unlocked for other survivors via the Bloodweb. They are:
- Overcome – When you are injured, you retain the movement speed bonus for an additional 2 seconds. Overcome triggers exhaustion for 60 / 50 / 40 seconds. Overcome cannot be used while the survivor is exhausted.
- Corrective Action – You start the match with 1 / 2 / 3 tokens and gain another token up to a maximum of 5 for each great skill check. If a survivor you are cooperating with fails a skill check, one token is consumed, and the failed skill check becomes a successful skill check.
- Boon: Exponential – Press and hold the “Active Ability” button to turn a dull totem into a boon totem. Survivors within 24 meters of the totem can regenerate 90% / 95% / 100% faster while on the ground and self-reviving. You can only bless one totem at a time. The totem unites all your boon perks.
When will the new chapter be released? There is still no exact release date for the new chapter. Typically, the test on the PTB lasts only about 2 weeks, so we can expect the release by the end of November – the release is supposed to take place in this month.
