The next chapter of Dead by Daylight has been revealed. The new killer comes from the “Resident Evil” universe. And he spreads the deadly T-Virus.
Dead by Daylight is already 5 years old. Even before the celebrations, the developers released a small teaser that made it clear there would be a crossover with “Resident Evil”. Now the cat is out of the bag in the stream. The terrifying monster Nemesis is unleashed on the players, and the survivors receive support from the legendary Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy.
This is what Nemesis can do, the new killer in Dead by Daylight
Nemesis is a large flesh colossus created using the T-Virus to eliminate problems for the Umbrella Corporation. That’s exactly what the “thing” does. However, enemies this time do not fight back with weapons but can only throw pallets. So, it’s likely an easy game for Nemesis.
What can Nemesis do? The great behemoth has the standard stats for killers. That means a movement speed of 115% and a terror radius of 32 meters.
- As a special attack, Nemesis can slide a tentacle out of its arm, which can hit survivors over a short distance.
- Hit survivors become infected with the virus. They vomit, cough, and make it easier to draw attention to themselves. At the same time, the mutation rate of the killer increases.
- If a survivor is already infected, they instead take damage from a hit.
With the increased mutation rate, Nemesis’s abilities become stronger:
- At level 2, the tentacle can destroy pallets and breakable walls.
- At level 3, the range of the tentacle strike is significantly increased.
Survivors can heal the infection by consuming one of the vaccines on the map. But beware: there are only a limited number available. If all are used up, the team will be left without a healing option.
But that’s not all. Nemesis is accompanied by AI zombies that wander around the map. The zombies are attracted by sounds. Zombies attacking survivors infect them with the T-Virus. If the survivor is already infected, they take damage. Survivors can kill zombies with pallets, while Nemesis can take out zombies with tentacles to increase the mutation rate. Killed zombies respawn after a short time.
These are Nemesis’s perks: Nemesis comes with three unique perks. These are exclusive to Nemesis but can later be passed on to other killers through the blood web.
- Lethal Pursuer: At the start of a trial, the aura of all survivors is revealed to you for 5 / 6 / 7 seconds.
- Hysteria: If you hit a survivor with a normal attack that changes their health state from Healthy to Injured, all injured survivors suffer from the Oblivious status for 20 / 25 / 30 seconds. Hysteria can only be triggered once every 60 seconds.
- Eruption: When you damage a generator, its aura is revealed in yellow. If you down a survivor with a normal attack (= they go to the ground), all marked generators explode and lose 6% of their progress, and their marking disappears.
Survivors repairing a generator during the explosion scream and suffer from the Incapacitated effect for 10 / 12 / 14 seconds (struggling to perform actions like repairing, healing, or cleansing totems). Eruption has a cooldown of 90 seconds.
The perks of both survivors
Since the “Resident Evil” chapter features two survivors, there’s also double the amount of perks. Both Jill Valentine and Leon S. Kennedy have three exclusive perks.
These are the perks of Jill Valentine: Jill Valentine starts with these exclusive perks:
- Counterforce: You cleanse totems 20% faster. After cleansing a totem, you see the furthest totem from you for 2 / 3 / 4 seconds and gain a stackable bonus of 20% to your cleansing speed.
- Resurgence: You instantly gain 40% / 45% / 50% healing progress when you unhook yourself or are rescued from the hook.
- Blast Mine: Blast Mine activates when you have repaired a generator to 66% progress. After repairing a generator for 3 seconds, you can press the active ability button to install a Blast Mine on the generator that remains active for 35 / 40 / 45 seconds. The corresponding generator is marked and visible to all survivors. Only one Blast Mine can be attached to each generator at the same time. If the killer damages the prepared generator, the trap explodes, stunning the killer and blinding all nearby players.
These are the perks of Leon S. Kennedy: Mr. Leon S. Kennedy can start the match with these abilities:
- Bite the Bullet: You make no noise while healing. Failed skill checks during healing do not create noise notifications for the killer, and progress is only reset by 1%.
- Flashbang: After you repair 50% of any generator, Flashbang activates. Enter a locker while not carrying an item and press the active ability button to create a flash grenade. The flash grenade has a charge, creates a noise notification upon throwing, and blinds.
- Rookie Spirit: Complete 3 Good or Great skill checks to activate Rookie Spirit for the rest of the trial. Once active, you see the auras of all damaged generators.
When will the chapter be released? The “Resident Evil” DLC will be released on June 15th, in just about 3 weeks. At least that’s the plan, provided no major issues arise on the PTR.
The PTB (Public Test Build) is already active on the PC version, by the way. There, you can already extensively test killers and survivors.
