A new bug in Dead by Daylight makes it particularly difficult for killers. They can no longer see survivors… or anything at all.
It has become a good tradition in Dead by Daylight that every patch brings a new series of bugs into the game. While some bugs are just annoying but not particularly important, others can completely ruin the game. Such a bug is currently affecting some killers who suddenly cannot see any survivors – as they are permanently blinded.
What happened? In the Dead by Daylight subreddit, user MARViiiiN posted a short clip. Here, we see him in the role of the new killer Deathslinger, as he is on the hunt. He has “fished” a survivor, knocks them down, and wants to pick them up. However, another survivor comes to the rescue and blinds the killer. This causes the Deathslinger to be briefly stunned and drop his prey.
But instead of recovering from the blindness effect after being stunned, it only fades momentarily and then comes back with full intensity. But see for yourself:

The Deathslinger remains blinded for the rest of the round. While you can make out the outlines of the environment very weakly through the blindness effect, hunting survivors is out of the question. Thus, the Deathslinger does not find any more survivors for the rest of the round, who he wouldn’t be able to see anyway.
At least he starts a few chases, and the survivor with the flashlight teases the killer a bit, as you can hear her clicking the flashlight wildly again and again. Whether she knew that she caused the bug is not entirely clear.
Players see luck in misfortune: As annoying as the bug is, the killers are at least satisfied that the “blind” animation of Dead by Daylight was changed some time ago. In the past, instead of the rather dark orange, there was a bright white screen that blinded not only the killer but also the player in front of the screen – especially when playing in a dark room.
Such and similar quirky bugs occasionally belong to Dead by Daylight and provide a lot of entertainment, as do these bugs:
- There was a patch in which 4 killers could compete simultaneously – much to the survivor’s dismay.
- The so-called “worst patch of all time” was a while ago – it brought several annoying bugs at once.
