The latest patch of Dead by Daylight is live. The Mid-Chapter patch brings the new, improved endgame and some balancing adjustments.
Yesterday evening (07.05.2019) the latest patch of Dead by Daylight was released. The patch 2.7.0 is the “Mid-Chapter Patch” and introduced numerous new features and adjustments. Along with a completely new endgame with a time limit, several killers were revised and perks were changed in their functions.
The End Game Collapse as a new finale: Each match now ends with an “End Game Collapse”. As soon as a gate is opened or the hatch is closed by the killer, a 2-minute timer begins. All survivors who are still in the match after this timer will be instantly sacrificed and count as regular sacrifices for the killer.
Survivors now have additional time pressure to escape. Killers have the option to “give up” without causing a disconnect – as they can start the timer themselves and open the gates.
More blood points at the end: Actions performed during the End Game Collapse (EGC) also award more blood points than ordinary actions. This adds new incentives to take risks in the final minutes of a match. These include:
- Killers
- Open gate (500 blood points)
- Close hatch (250 blood points)
- Sacrifice survivor during EGC (500 blood points)
- Hang survivor during EGC (250 blood points)
- Survivor sacrificed by timer running out (500 blood points)
- Survivors
- Heal a teammate during EGC (750 blood points)
- Rescue a survivor from the hook during EGC (2000 blood points)
- Be the last survivor when EGC starts (250 blood points)
- Open a gate after EGC starts (1500 blood points)
- Repair a generator after the hatch is opened (500 blood points)
Nerfs for The Legion and The Pig: Two killers have also been hit hard in this patch. “The Legion” is drastically weakened and should be significantly less annoying in the future. The community believes that he is now the weakest killer in the game. His ability is no longer helpful and rather hinders him in the hunt. His addons have also been dramatically weakened to prevent overly strong combinations.
It remains to be seen whether a suitable playstyle for The Legion will be found.
The Pig aka Amanda, on the other hand, has to deal with her inactive traps not triggering when a survivor tries to leave the map through the exit gate. Other nerfs were rolled back after player complaints.
The Farm perk has been adjusted: A particularly notable change was made to the perk “We’re gonna live forever”. This perk grants additional blood points when rescuing survivors from the hook and taking hits for them.
From now on, stacks will only count when the rescue from the hook is a “safe” rescue – meaning the survivor remains on their feet for at least 15 seconds. The blunt “farming” of survivors no longer increases the stacks of this perk.
No matches without 5 players: For many, this may be the best feature of the patch. If a player loses connection during the loading screen or there is a game crash, the match will be canceled. In this case, both killers and survivors will keep their items, addons, and offerings. This applies only to matches that have not yet started – those who leave a match do so at the expense of their team.
