The new killer “The Plague” is now live in Dead by Daylight and it comes with a Survivor and fancy graphics. We reveal what’s in the new patch.
The latest patch for Dead by Daylight is live and brought several major changes. Not only is there a new killer and a new survivor, but also the first batch of graphical improvements. The horror game has begun to update its visuals to meet modern standards.
What can the new killer do? “The Plague” was mocked a bit beforehand, because the ability seems a bit silly. “Vile Corruption” allows the killer to sprint up to 5 times in a row at medium distance. The killer’s speed is doubled, making them as fast as a Hillbilly with a chainsaw.
However, The Plague cannot attack during the first sprint. They must first collide with a wall or another object to initiate a second sprint. This then becomes a “deadly sprint” that can also be used to attack. This promotes a rather unusual playstyle, which can be frustrating in inexperienced hands.
These are The Plague’s perks
Like all killers, The Plague comes with three unique perks in three tiers each. Initially, only The Plague can use these perks, but you can unlock them for all other killers through the blood web as usual.
- Dragon Grip: After the killer damages a generator, any survivor interacting with that generator within the next 30 seconds reveals their location for 4 seconds, screams loudly, and is inflicted with the “exposed” status for 60 seconds (goes down with one hit). Dragon Grip has a cooldown of 120 / 100 / 80 seconds.
- Hex: Blood Favor: When a survivor is hit with a melee attack, the Entity intervenes and holds all pallets within a 16-meter radius for 15 seconds, preventing them from being thrown down. Blood Favor has a cooldown of 60 / 50 / 40 seconds.
- Hex: Undying: Survivors within a 2-meter radius of any totem are revealed for 4 / 5 / 6 seconds. If another Hex Totem is destroyed, the corresponding hex is transferred to another inactive totem if one is available. All tokens of that hex are lost in the process.
These are Felix Richter’s perks
The survivors also gained a new member with Felix Richter. Like all survivors, he comes with three unique perks that can be unlocked for everyone through the blood web.
- Visionary: You see the auras of generators within a 32-meter range. Each time a generator is fully repaired, the perk is deactivated for 20 / 18 / 16 seconds.
- Desperate Measures: For each injured, hooked, or dying survivor, the speed of your actions to heal or rescue from the hook increases by 10% / 12% / 14%.
- Built to Last: Once per match, a depleted item replenishes 30% / 40% / 50% of its charges after 10 seconds.
What does the DLC cost? Anyone who wants to play as The Plague and Felix Richter needs to purchase the DLC “Descend Beyond,” which costs around €7. Alternatively, both characters can also be purchased individually with Bloodpoints that can be earned in the game.
New graphics make a real impact
Also new in patch 4.2.0 is the graphical overhaul of many objects in the game world. Dead by Daylight is planning to refresh the game’s graphics, doing so step by step. In this update, the interactive objects have been revised.
This means:
- Generators now look pretty and survivors have new animations when working on generators. They actually interact with the device instead of “awkwardly reaching into the air”.
- Boxes look prettier and have better animations. You now break a lock instead of rummaging through an supposedly empty box for a long time.
- Pallets now have high-resolution textures.
- The killer’s shack in some maps has been updated. You can now see less through walls.
- The maps “Bedham Pre School” and the “Yamaoka Estate” have undergone extensive graphical revisions.
What do you think of the latest patch? Do you like the characters and the graphical revisions?
