The horror game Dead by Daylight is trying to save its Halloween event. Players are being showered with numerous bonuses.
The release of the Halloween update for Dead by Daylight did not go well. The community was heavily disappointed. There is hardly anything to do, and the actual reward, the Halloween skins, could scarcely be unlocked unless one throws real money at the problem.
The developers quickly reacted to the criticism and implemented an emergency solution.
What was the problem? Halloween always holds great significance in Dead by Daylight, as there is (usually) an interesting event, and in any case, cool skins to earn. Damn disgusting skins were available again this year, but these could not simply be earned; they had to be purchased through the shop.
This year, it was also possible to earn them through the in-game currency Iridescent Shards, but the price was high. To earn a single skin, one had to spend several hundred hours in the game. Much too much for a Halloween event.
The fans were angry and let their frustration run free. Until now, players could at least always easily earn one of the skins over Halloween.
This is what the developers have done: After the shitstorm went rampant in the official forum and on the Dead by Daylight subreddit, the developers reacted quickly. They implemented a solution where every player is at least able to earn one skin.
To achieve this, they made two changes:
- The cost of the new skins in the shop (for all original DbD characters) has been reduced by 50%. Instead of 18,000 Iridescent Shards, they now temporarily cost only 9,000 Iridescent Shards.
- There is a daily login bonus that grants a large amount of Iridescent Shards.
What kind of bonus is this? Players will now receive a juicy bonus upon daily login in Dead by Daylight. There are both Iridescent Shards and Bloodpoints. Depending on which day you log in, there are different amounts – the most on Halloween weekend.
- October 24 – October 30: Daily 500 Iridescent Shards and 20,000 Bloodpoints.
- October 31 – November 1: Daily 2,750 Iridescent Shards and 100,000 Bloodpoints.
- November 2 – November 4: Daily 500 Iridescent Shards and 20,000 Bloodpoints.
Players who collect all bonuses will receive a whopping 10,000 Iridescent Shards and 470,000 Bloodpoints. That is enough currency to unlock one of the new skins for free.
If desired, Iridescent Shards can also be spent on other things, such as new characters, perks from the Shrine of Secrets, or alternative outfits.
It is worth logging in daily in Dead by Daylight, even if you don’t want to play any matches right now. The shards and bloodpoints can also be used later.
Blood Hunt is coming as well: In addition to the daily login bonuses, there will be a Blood Hunt from October 29 to November 2. During this time, the earned Bloodpoints will be doubled. This is a great time for newcomers to catch up to the pros quickly, but also useful for veterans to unlock the last perks on all characters.
