Dead by Daylight is getting the killer that traumatized me as a child

Dead by Daylight has secured another powerful license. The infamous Alien will soon hunt the helpless survivors in the fog.

Even though the balance or the necessary grind in Dead by Daylight is often a reason to complain about the game, the developers seem to be riding a wave of strong licenses. They have now succeeded in bringing one of the most famous horror icons into the fog of the entity: the Alien, also known as “Xenomorph”.

The abilities of the new killer are not yet known, but a few assumptions can already be made. The Alien is known for its sneaky attacks, which means it will likely be able to suppress the terror radius. The notorious “Face-Huggers,” which are used for reproduction and are quite disgusting, might also play a role, as well as the possibility of moving “underground” – though that might be too close to the Demogorgon.

Even though the original Alien film from 1979, with its rather simple special effects, can hardly compete with the modern films, it was quite a milestone. After all, the film made almost ten times its production costs at the time and had interesting design decisions. Ripley is one of the first true female action heroes to make it to the big screen.

Perhaps there was a young demon some time ago who saw this film far too early because he used the “free house” to go through his parents’ video collection. And just maybe that led me to sleep only with the lights on for almost two weeks, constantly keeping a close watch on my belly to ensure that no sinister creature was about to burst forth.

Even though the Alien films have now become some of my absolute horror favorites, I already know that the Alien will create quite a panic again in Dead by Daylight and bring up some eerie memories – at least if the developers don’t completely mess up the abilities of the Xenomorph.

I’m really curious to see how they will implement this, and the community seems to be as well. Here are a few excerpts from the game’s subreddit:

• “The DbD community is going to collapse.”
• “The Xenomorph is already incredible. If we get Ripley too, then I will honestly explode.”
• “I don’t want to lie, but I never thought we would get to see this. I’m curious how the Xenomorph will play. I hope he gets a fun power.”
