The community of Dead by Daylight is demanding improvements, as the worst issues have been ongoing for years and are getting worse.
The next patch of Dead by Daylight, Update 5.5.0, seems promising. Not only does the previously silent Pinhead finally get his voice back, but also particularly annoying mechanics such as “Wiggling” or holding down a button will be improved. However, the most serious problems of the horror game remain – and the community has noticed this.
What problems are there? Dead by Daylight has grown more successful and popular over the years, but is increasingly becoming unattractive for new players. This is mainly because with each new character, the grind that players have to endure in order to finally play good builds of perks increases. Anyone who wants to have all perks for maximum freedom must invest several hundred hours of gameplay.
How would players fix it? A recent post in the Dead by Daylight subreddit has received widespread support. After just 12 hours, it has collected over 2,200 upvotes and proposes 4 different changes:
- The different ranks (Tiers) for perks should be removed.
- The amount of blood points received should be fundamentally increased.
- The cap of 1,000,000 blood points should be removed.
- The limit of 8,000 blood points in each respective category should be removed.
Many see the removal of perk ranks as a good solution, as this would already reduce the grind by 66%. There would still be many hours, and the problem would return in the coming years, but in the short term, it would provide relief.
What other reactions are there? The suggested measures are being discussed under the thread. Most players believe that simply removing the perk ranks would be enough to get the problems under control.

They add more characters, with more teachable perks, which means more junk in the Bloodweb. These changes are all rationally justified.
ChRunningWater thinks:
For me, it would be fine if they just removed the perk ranks. This is an outdated mechanic now.
Bloodshaded believes that simply removing the perks would not be enough. He explains in more detail:
The grind of Dead by Daylight scales at a geometric rate. With every character added, not only do we get 3 new perks … we get 3 new perks added to the Bloodwebs of all existing characters, past, present, and future. Currently, we have 25 killers (not including the Demogorgon). That’s 25 killers with 75 teachable perks per killer. Ten more and we have 35 killers with 105 teachable perks per killer. We’re talking thousands of Bloodwebs, and that doesn’t even account for perk ranks, standard perks, survivor perks, the prestige system, and the need for some killers to purchase certain add-ons.
The whole system needs a revamp.
