Here’s how to recognize players from other platforms: In the lobby, you can easily recognize players from other platforms. Next to their username, there is a small round symbol. If a player has such a symbol next to their name, they are playing from a different platform than you. However, you can’t tell exactly which device is being used this way. However, Cross-Play is not only met with positive reactions. Some players do not want to compete against players from other platforms. Nurse killers on PC are quite feared as they can be very well controlled with mouse and keyboard. On consoles, Nurse players are often laughed at and struggle with the controls. Due to these differences, some are against mixing player groups.
Cross-Play can easily be turned off
Here’s how to deactivate Cross-Play: If you do not want Cross-Play with other platforms besides your own, you can deactivate it in the menu. The option is quite hidden towards the bottom. Scroll almost all the way down in the options menu and look for the setting “Online – Crossplay”. Just uncheck the small box, and Cross-Play will be deactivated for you. From now on, you will only meet players who are on the same platform as you and who have also deactivated this option.
You can of course reactivate the option at any time if you still feel like Cross-Play.
Cross-platform friends lists help: Those who choose to use Cross-Play can now also create cross-platform friends lists. This way, you can stay in touch with players on other platforms and invite them to matches. You can also always see when these players are online, so you theoretically have access to a larger pool of friends you can play with.
