The latest killer in Dead by Daylight is disgusting – very disgusting. But he also brings a pretty lady with him, who will surely become many players’ new “main” soon.
Dead by Daylight has apparently set itself the goal in recent weeks to truly bring horror back into the game. Even the “Light’s Out” mode brought the terror back – but the latest killer is definitely going to take it up a notch.
Because “The Unknown” is likely to be one of the most disgusting and eerie killers the game has ever produced.
And survivors can also be happy, as many players should have found their new “main” in the “All Things Wicked” chapter – because Dead by Daylight finally gets a real goth girl with “Sable Ward”.
You can see the trailer for the new chapter here:
What the new killer “The Unknown” can do
Visually, “The Unknown” is already quite hard to bear. A distorted and twisted human body that advances towards the survivors with a nasty grin and very jerky, twitching movements.
Like most modern killers, “The Unknown” has several abilities that interact relatively complexly with each other. Apart from that, the killer seems to match the average. A terror radius of 32 meters and a normal movement speed (115 %).
First of all, the killer can charge a projectile and then fire it. The projectile bounces off walls and then explodes in a small area. If survivors are hit for the first time by the explosion, they receive the debuff “Weakened” and a second hit will deal damage to them. Survivors can remove the debuff by staring at the killer for long enough.
Additionally, the killer creates illusions of himself at regular intervals that rise up after a short time. These illusions can be used for teleportation to move quickly across the map.
Survivors can dispel these illusions by interacting with them. If they fail to do so, for example, because they have to cancel the action, they will be weakened and trigger the killer instinct effect for a few seconds, allowing the killer to track them.
And to keep it spooky, you can sometimes hear The Unknown speaking in different voices – presumably the sounds of past victims.
The perks of The Unknown, the new killer
The Unknown comes, like all killers, with 3 unique perks. Initially, only he can use these perks, but they can later be unlocked for all survivors through the prestige system.
- Unbound: This perk activates for 24 / 27 / 30 seconds after you have wounded a survivor in any way. After you vault through a window, you gain a 5% speed buff for 10 seconds. This effect does not stack with itself.
- Unforseen: When you perform the sabotage action on a generator, your terror radius is transferred to the generator for 22 / 25 / 30 seconds and its range is set to 32 meters. You are undetectable for this duration (no terror radius and no red glow). After that, a cooldown of 30 seconds activates.
- Undone: If a survivor fails a skill check while healing or repairing, you receive 3 tokens, up to a maximum of 18 / 24 / 30 tokens. When you use the sabotage action on a generator while you have tokens, you consume all of them. For each token, the generator loses 1% progress and is then blocked for 1 second. Then, when the generator is unblocked, normal regression begins. This perk has a 60-second cooldown.

The perks of Sable Ward, the new survivor
Like all survivors, Sable Ward comes with 3 standalone perks that you can unlock later for all survivors through the blood web’s prestige system. Sable is also the first survivor to have one of the new “Invocation” perks. With this, survivors can complete rituals that activate a negative effect while also providing a strong bonus.
- Invocation: Weaving Spiders: As long as you are in the basement near the ritual circle, press the action button to start an invocation. Invocations take 120 seconds. Other survivors can see your aura and join the ongoing invocation, which increases the speed per survivor by 50%. If they equipped an invocation perk themselves, the speed increases instead by 100%. Once the invocation is completed, the following happens:
- You become injured and receive the “Broken” status for the remainder of the trial (you cannot be healed).
- All generators immediately receive 9 / 12 / 15 charges of progress.
- This perk is deactivated for all survivors.
- Strength in Shadows: When you are in the basement, this perk is activated. You have the ability to heal yourself at 60% of the normal healing speed without a med-kit. If you complete a healing in the basement, the killer’s aura is revealed to you for 6 / 8 / 10 seconds.
- Wicked: This perk is not correctly implemented on the PTB and will be revised before release.
What else is in the patch? Aside from the two characters, the “All Things Wicked” chapter also comes with a new map, namely the “Greenville Square.” This is an eerie and partially collapsed movie theater with a small arcade, along with a fairly large outdoor area.
In addition, the “Mangled” status effect is being revised and now has a timer. Survivors can choose to dispel the effect by healing (which takes more time) or they wait until the debuff runs out and then heal in less time but are overall injured longer.
What do you think of the new killer?
