The true highlight of the next patch of Dead by Daylight is some cosmetic items. Finally, there is new stuff for licensed characters!
The next patch of Dead by Daylight is not far away. Ghost Face is set to appear next week. However, the killer has already fallen from grace because in his current form, Ghost Face is far too weak. Players are much more interested in other changes that the patch will bring: skins for The Pig and David Tapp.
For many fans of Dead by Daylight, it is a small sensation that Amanda Young and David Tapp will receive new skins in the upcoming patch. This is a novelty, as licensed characters typically do not receive new cosmetics after their release.
New skins for Amanda and David: There are the following two skins for “The Pig”. The “Test Subject” outfit is the clothing that Amanda Young wears in the first SAW movie when she becomes a victim of Jigsaw and undergoes a test.
Her leather outfit seems to have no direct reference to the films at first glance, but it could simply be “casual wear” of the character in daily life.
David Tapp, who was the lead investigator in the Saw murders at the beginning, is also getting new outfits. Once as a tough cop:
And another outfit titled “Undercover”, which is what he wears for disguise in daily life.
More skins for other characters: In addition, there are a bunch of other skins for killers and survivors that are also worth a look.
The Spirit, for example, receives a creepy scarecrow skin:
The Huntress receives the “Cold Wasteland Survivor” outfit:
Feng Min, on the other hand, throws herself into a rather pink outfit:
Dwight Fairfield seemingly had extreme hobbies, as his “Chute Malfunction” skin presents him looking quite disheveled and disorganized. His sweater suggests that he only wanted to deliver pizza with the parachute.
What has been the problem so far? Licensed characters such as The Pig Amanda Young and David Tapp from “Saw” are usually bound by clear agreements and contracts. This means that the developers of Dead by Daylight can only represent and show the characters in a very specific manner – including cosmetic modifications. After all, the rights holders do not want their characters to be “made fun of” or portrayed inappropriately.
New deals with the rights holders? The fact that there will now be new cosmetic items for both characters apparently means that the developers were able to strike a new deal. Whether other rights holders will follow suit and if we can expect new visual adjustments for Freddy Krueger (Nightmare), Quentin, Michael Myers (The Shape), or Laurie Strode remains to be seen.
When will the cosmetics be released? As is common with Dead by Daylight, cosmetic items will not be available directly at the launch of the patch. Instead, they will be gradually released over the coming weeks.
Which of these cosmetics is your highlight? Which skin are you particularly looking forward to?
