Dead by Daylight is a nasty horror MMO that plays with our deepest and oldest fears. Additionally, an interesting community has gathered around the title, which can certainly be described as “lecherous”. The developers are picking up on this and bringing out a risqué spin-off in the summer.
How … and what? Yep, I also had to check my calendar, but April 1st has long passed. It’s true: Dead by Daylight, known for brutal horror action, is getting a spin-off on Steam this summer. And it’s a dating simulator.
We at MeinMMO were able to talk to the developers before the official reveal and show you in detail what this bizarre spin-off is all about.

What’s happening here? The folks from Behaviour Interactive want to expand the universe around Dead by Daylight. A spin-off is set to be released on Steam this summer.
In “Hooked on You” you get the dubious chance to date your favorite characters from the game. At the start, 4 of the killers are ready for flirting:
- The Huntress
- The Trapper
- The Spirit
- The Wraith
Like many matchmaking shows before, Dead by Daylight also recognizes the romantic potential of a tropical island with picturesque beaches and brings you together with dangerous psychopaths on the beautiful “Killer Island”.
Hooked on You is being developed in collaboration with the creators of Psyop. If you want to see what such a game looks like, take a look at the dating sim featuring Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken (via YouTube).
You can flirt with the killers, build a relationship, and get closer. Mathieu Côté, Head of Partnerships at Dead by Daylight, explained this in a bit more detail:
They are the same killers you know from Dead by Daylight, just in a slightly different version. They are of course a bit more playful, but still just as crazy and dangerous as in the main game. The Entity organizes everything and has a reason for creating this place.
Côté clarifies that the story is not official lore for the game. However, alongside the flirting with the killers, there is also a story to discover that is supposed to draw you into the game – horror, humor, and romance is what Hooked on You aims to offer.

How can this happen? 2021 was a big year for Dead by Daylight. Senior Producer Stefan Beauchamp-Daniel explains that DbD reached 50 million players and about 2 million log in daily. It’s time to expand the universe.
Community feedback is particularly important in this process. Mathieu Côté said: “At the top of the list was a dating simulator. This surprised us. But it also shows the lecherous nature of our fans […] this is what we decided on (laughs).”
The community of Dead by Daylight is somewhat “special” in this regard. The relationship between killers and survivors can sometimes be described as “strange,” in a romantic sense.
There is a lot of fan fiction on social media, in which the game characters live peacefully together and even romantic relationships are depicted. Scrolling through Reddit a bit, you can quickly find examples of the somewhat extraordinary relationship some fans have with the protagonists of Dead by Daylight:
What else is there to know? Hooked on You starts in the summer on Steam with 4 killers in its portfolio. A more precise date is not yet available. Mathieu Côté emphasizes that whether more killers or survivors will be added depends on the success of the game.
For the main game, a crossover with the anime “Attack on Titan” has been announced, and a major event with Resident Evil – Project W.
Furthermore, the latest chapter is about to launch on the test server: Roots of Horror. This introduces the new killer “Dredge”, a survivor, and a new map. The characters were correctly leaked in advance.
