The latest patch of Dead by Daylight is live. We will tell you what the new killer and survivor can do.
In Dead by Daylight, the latest chapter has been released. The DLC called “Portrait of a Murder” brings two new characters and a fresh map. While the killer “The Artist” uses creepy crows, the new survivor Jonah Vasquez brings another controversial boon perk.
What can the killer “The Artist” do?
The Artist is a rather devious ranged killer. She can create several crows that look calmly in one direction and are only released when the Artist wishes. The crows reveal survivors, and if they are already revealed, they inflict damage. This gives the Artist a fairly high mind-game potential, but she can also trap chokepoints with traps that she fires on command.
The 3 perks of the killer “The Artist”
Like all killers, the Artist comes with 3 independent perks. At the beginning, only she possesses these talents, but they can be unlocked over time through the blood web for all other killers.
- Dark Embrace – Every time you hook a survivor for the first time, you gain a token. Once you have accumulated 4 tokens, Dark Embrace is triggered. The Entity blocks all generators for 30 / 35 / 40 seconds, and the aura of your obsession is revealed for 5 seconds.
- Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance – At the start of the trial, 4 hooks are transformed into scourge hooks. You can see their aura in white. Every time a survivor is hooked on a scourge hook, the generator with the most progress explodes and loses immediately 9% / 12% / 15% progress, and its progress begins to regress. Survivors repairing this generator scream and reveal their position.
- Curse: Pentimento – You can see the auras of destroyed totems. You can perform a ritual on destroyed totems to reignite them. The more reignited totems are in play, the more effects are activated.
- 1 reignited totem: Reduces survivor repair speed by 20% / 25% / 30%.
- 2 reignited totems: Reduces survivor healing speed by 20% / 25% / 30%.
- 3 reignited totems: Reduces the recovery speed of survivors in the “Dying” state by 20% / 25% / 30%.
- 4 reignited totems: Reduces the opening speed of exit gates by 20% / 25% / 30%.
- 5 reignited totems: The Entity blocks all totems.
The 3 perks of the survivor Jonah Vasquez
The survivor also comes with 3 special perks that you can unlock through the blood web for all other survivors. With Jonah, you can unlock the following powers:
- Overcome – When you are injured, you receive a speed bonus for an additional 2 seconds. This triggers exhaustion for 60 / 50 / 40 seconds. Overcome cannot be triggered if you are exhausted.
- Dead Hard – You start the trial with 1 / 2 / 3 tokens and gain an additional token for every great skill check up to a maximum of 5. If a survivor fails a skill check while working with you, 1 token is consumed and the failed skill check is converted into a success.
- Blessing: Exponential – Hold the “Active Ability” button to transform a dull totem or a hex totem into a blessing totem. Survivors within 24 meters of the blessing totem recover 90% / 95% / 100% faster from the “Dying” state and can fully recover from it. You can only bless one totem at a time, and all your blessing abilities are combined in one totem.
What else is in patch 5.4.0? Apart from the two new characters, there is also the new map “Eyrie of Crows”, which thematically fits with the Artist. It is probably the brightest map in Dead by Daylight with a rather unusual design.
Besides that, the patch is full of bug fixes that address smaller and larger issues.
