A new hotfix for Dead by Daylight has been released. It brings some juicy nerfs for Freddy Krueger and an important bug fix for the Trapper.
For some days now, the Oni has been causing chaos in Dead by Daylight and is slaughtering survivors. However, patch 3.4.0 also introduced some new glitches and issues, which prompted the developers to react and release a new hotfix 3.4.2.
However, it not only addresses bugs but also has some real nerfs for Freddy Krueger. Some of his best addons are significantly weakened. But Trappers can also breathe a sigh of relief, as they no longer appear to be clueless about the game.
What was changed with the Trapper? The Trapper has been facing a very annoying problem for some patches. When he places a trap, it could happen that he steps into his own trap immediately afterward. This not only reveals its position but also briefly stuns him.
Previously, the Trapper could run over the trap once after laying it before it was activated for him. This condition has now been restored and allows Trappers to place their traps and step over them without triggering them. Only when they pass the traps next time would they trigger them themselves.
The joy over this fuels many memes in the Dead by Daylight subreddit:
What was changed with Freddy? In total, 3 addons of Freddy were restricted in their effect. All of these addons limited the action speed of survivors. They are:
- Outdoor Rope: The debuff on speed has been reduced from 6% to 2%.
- Jump Rope: The debuff on speed has been reduced from 9% to 4%.
- The debuff on speed has been reduced per sleeping survivor from 3% to 2%.
Why was the nerf for Freddy necessary? Freddy Krueger, also known as “the Nightmare”, has become one of the deadliest killers since his rework a few months ago. According to the developers, he had the highest kill rate. Apparently, this was due to his addons, which prolonged matches and gave Freddy more time to eliminate the survivors. This should now have been slightly corrected downwards.
What else is in the hotfix? Aside from these major changes, there are numerous minor bug fixes. Incorrect information in the addons of the Doctor was corrected and many issues that led to game crashes were resolved.
Do you find the nerfs for Freddy justified? Or were the addons not that strong?
