The Trickster from Dead by Daylight was extremely weak at the beginning. Now, improvements are finally coming that should help the K-Pop star.
In many games, newly added characters are considered “OP” at launch and are often far superior to other characters. Not so in Dead by Daylight. Many killers are considered weak at release and quickly earn the reputation of being almost “unplayable.” This also happened with the Trickster. Now, significant help is being provided.
What was the problem? The Trickster is seen by many as a “weaker hunter.” After all, he has to hit survivors with numerous knives before he actually inflicts damage. Together with his limited number of knives and many problems with his “Ultimate” ability, this caused the Trickster to lag far behind all other killers. The developers even emphasized this in the latest “Developer Update,” stating that the Trickster performs very poorly even in the hands of experienced killer players. At least he works as a sex symbol.
What will change? A lot. A number of adjustments are coming for the K-Pop killer:
- The number of necessary knives to inflict damage on survivors is reduced from 8 to 6.
- The time before cuts decay is reduced from 20 seconds to 10 seconds.
- The rate at which cuts decay while running is increased to 0.3 per second (previously 0.175 per second) and set to 0.4 seconds (previously 0.235 per second) at all other times.
- If the Trickster hits a survivor with a melee attack, the survivor only loses 3 cuts (instead of the previous 4).
But there are still several other adjustments, especially regarding “Main Event.” This is the Trickster’s special ability that can be triggered when he has hit enough survivors with knives.
- The activation time of Main Event is reduced from 1.5 seconds to 0.5 seconds.
- The number of necessary knives to activate Main Event has been increased to 30.
- The time Main Event can be saved in a ready state has been increased from 10 seconds to 30 seconds.
Especially the faster activation time should ensure that the “Main Event” can truly make an impact. Often, survivors could escape before the ability could even be activated.
Is more changing? Yes. There are also several adjustments to addons and a few changes to his perks. Especially “No Way Out” will become really strong. It will no longer block the exit gate switches as soon as the last generator is active, but only when a survivor tries to activate the switch. Then there will also be a loud alarm sound. The maximum possible duration of the perk has been increased from 46 to 60 seconds.
When will the changes come? In a few days, the changes should already be playable on the PTB (Public Test Build). However, it may take 2-4 weeks before the next “Mid-Chapter Patch” goes live – depending on how quickly the developers progress. So expect the earliest at the end of July before you will experience these adjustments live.
Will you give the Trickster another chance when the buffs arrive? Or is the killer long written off for you?
