A new killer in Dead by Daylight is already a fan favorite. For many years, fans have waited for this cross-over.
Every few weeks, Dead by Daylight introduces new killers or survivors in the form of new chapters. The next update will bring a very special favorite that fans have wished for many, many years. Finally, there is a collaboration with “Five Nights at Freddy’s” and the new killer “The Animatronic”.
The last killer from the anime Tokyo Ghoul, was very well received:
What can the Animatronic do? The Animatronic (also known as Springtrap
) has, like most new killers, a more complex ability with multiple aspects.
On one hand, the Animatronic has an axe that he can throw at enemies. If the axe directly hits a survivor, it gets stuck in them, injuring them and inflicting “Deep Wounds”. The axe must be manually removed by the survivor, but it can also be recalled by the Animatronic after a delay. If the axe misses a survivor, it creates a small aura at the impact site that reveals survivors with the “Killer Instinct” effect.
The second ability is the safety doors. When the Animatronic is in the game, 7 safety doors appear all over the map. Survivors and the killer can interact with these doors to look through the cameras on the back of all other doors. This allows survivors to reveal the killer. Alternatively, one can travel through a door to any other door. Survivors can only use these doors for a limited time, as battery charge is consumed. When it runs out, the system needs to restart, which takes time.
The killer, on the other hand, can use the doors regardless of the battery status. If the killer travels through a door where a survivor is already standing, that survivor will be immediately seized and can be hung up.
What perks does the Animatronic have? Like all killers, the Animatronic comes with 3 standalone perks that are initially only available to him. However, these perks can later be unlocked for all other killers through the blood web.
- Help Wanted: When you damage a generator, it becomes compromised. If a compromised generator is fully repaired, the cooldowns of your successful standard attacks are reduced by 25% for 40 / 50 / 60 seconds.
- Phantom Fear: If a survivor looks your way within your terror radius, they scream and reveal their aura for 2 seconds. This perk has a cooldown of 80 / 70 / 60 seconds.
- Haywire: Exit gates that have reached at least 50% progress lose their progress at a rate of 40% / 45% / 50% of the opening speed. Survivors can recognize this by the flickering light of the exit gate.
Keep in mind that all this information is from the PTB (Test Server). Details may change before release.
You can see both the perks and the killer in detail in a video from the streamer Otzdarva:
What else is in the patch? In addition to the new killer, Dead by Daylight also wants to implement many new features and requested updates. There will be a system to make AFK players lose their collision so that others can no longer troll and trap them. At the same time, they want to prevent survivors from taking themselves out of the game on hooks at the very beginning with a “Go Next” mentality. You can no longer free yourself from hooks (without perks) as long as there are more than 2 survivors, and intentional quitting will automatically be punished like a disconnect.
When will the chapter be released? As usual, the chapter will be released about 3 weeks after the PTB starts. This means that the release of the Animatronic is currently scheduled for June 17, 2025. From then on, you can hunt with the creepy life-sized doll – and indulge a whole lot of childhood fears.
