The Doctor from Dead by Daylight has been massively buffed. He is now a dark threat in the horror game!
Last night (08.10.2017) a new update for Dead by Daylight went live. The patch 1.6.2 brought a few bug fixes, but fundamental revisions for the Doctor – probably the most hated killer in Dead by Daylight.
The Doctor was already unpopular at his release. For a long time, he was considered a “noob killer” – as newbies could easily be defeated with him, but it was significantly harder to deal with skilled players. Many of the “annoying” aspects of the Doctor for survivors have now been drastically worsened. He is now a real enemy and madness has actual effects.
The following changes have been made to the Doctor:
- Calming down now counts as a form of healing. Therefore, it benefits from perks such as “Botany Knowledge”, but the killer can also take advantage of it through perks like “A Nurse’s Calling”.
- Calming down can now trigger skill checks. Failing a skill check cancels the calming and reveals the survivor’s position to the killer.
- There is a new insanity effect: Every 20 seconds, a destroyed pallet is replaced by a illusory pallet that only survivors can see. It cannot be used.
- When the Doctor switches from Treatment to Punishment (and vice versa), he will no longer be slowed down during the transition.
- The following insanity effect is now included in the Doctor’s base kit (and is always active): Survivor skill checks have a 33% / 66% / 100% chance of appearing at a random location on the screen, depending on madness 1 / 2 / 3.
- Survivors who have been hit by Shock Therapy cannot perform interactions for 2.5 seconds.
With this, the Doctor is now a serious threat at all player levels and requires a rethinking from survivors. Concentrated staring at the middle of the screen quickly becomes a death trap if the skill check backfires.
