Dead by Daylight will tackle camping and tunneling and help the survivors. They receive a significant buff and can escape more easily.
That survivors and killers in Dead by Daylight constantly accuse each other of playing unfairly and being much too strong is an old tale by now – you probably can’t get that out of the players anymore.
However, in one respect, the developers agree with the survivors, currently there is too much camping. To make this harder, they want to give the survivors more options.
Camming will be more difficult and won’t pay off anymore
One criticism that is often heard is the accusation that killers camp or tunnel too often. Although this is especially a problem in the lower MMR areas, it often leads to frustration and annoyance. Therefore, there are some changes.
“Camping” refers to a killer not leaving the immediate area around the hook while a survivor is hung there. There are different gradations here. Generally, it is not considered toxic camping anymore when the “Endgame Collapse” has already begun or several survivors are immediately nearby.
“Tunneling” refers to a killer repeatedly chasing a specific survivor until that survivor is eliminated as early as possible – the killer has a “tunnel vision” on this survivor, hence the victim is “tunneled”.
With the release of Patch 6.2.0, that’s the “Resident Evil: Project W” chapter, the bonus after rescuing a survivor is increased. Instead of having only a speed boost for 4 seconds after the rescue and a “Stamina” buff of 7%, this will now be massively strengthened. In the future, newly rescued players from the hook will:
- Survivors will move 10% faster for 10 seconds, so with 110% movement speed.
- Survivors have the stamina buff for 10 seconds after rescue, meaning they don’t go down immediately from a hit.
With 10 seconds available, every survivor should be able to reach a saving pallet or a window to make up valuable seconds and try to escape again.
As before, however, the stamina buff will disappear if one takes a suspicious action – healing, repairing a generator, cleansing a totem, and so forth.
Changes to Bloodpoints
A second major change should please everyone who is dissatisfied with the new distribution of bloodpoints. Dead by Daylight recently drastically revised the progression system, allowing perks to be unlocked via the prestige system. To make this feel a bit more rewarding, the costs for items in the bloodweb are now drastically reduced. On average, they go down by a whopping 33%, allowing you to get much more for your bloodpoints than before.
You can find the exact changes in this table:
| Rarity | Old Price | Price in 6.2.0 |
|---|---|---|
| Event | 3,000 | 2,000 |
| Common | 3,000 | 2,000 |
| Uncommon | 4,000 | 2,500 |
| Rare | 5,000 | 3,250 |
| Very Rare | 6,000 | 4,000 |
| Ultra Rare | 7,000 | 5,000 |
The developers decided on this step (instead of increasing the bloodpoint gain) because then automatically bloodpoints from all sources – matches, events, offerings, quests, daily missions – are more valuable.
Troll perk will be weakened after PTB
A few days ago we reported about the perk “Reassurance”, which is referred to as the “Anti-Camper Perk”. In fact, it was possible to indefinitely extend the duration of a person on the hook, so that the killer never gets their kill. However, at the same time, it also allowed for something else – you could troll your teammates.
Survivors were able to hold other survivors on the hook indefinitely with the perk, meaning those players could be “held” in the game against their will. Since this was discovered early on the test server, the developers are now introducing some changes. With “Reassurance”, it will only be possible to extend the duration per hook phase once.
Several players can still add their effects, but after 90 additional seconds, it’s over. This way, the perk still has an extremely strong effect and can account for up to 2 additional generators, but you can no longer “hold” a player against their will “on the hook”.
No exact release date for the chapter is known yet, but the developers mention “the coming weeks” – so it won’t be long before you get to see these improvements and the new killer Mastermind with his brutal Mori.
