In Dead by Daylight, the Trapper gains a new ability. Although it seems minor, it may have larger implications in matches.
While the current focus in Dead by Daylight is on the teaser for the next chapter and a possible werewolf killer, there are other interesting news as well. The developers explained many details regarding latency in Dead by Daylight during a one-hour stream and what effects it has on the game.
At the very end, however, there was a small “bonus detail,” almost a taste of the upcoming patch. They presented a new ability for the Trapper.
What can the Trapper do in the future? The short clip shows a Trapper standing in front of an unplaced trap, staring at it intently. After some back and forth, he simply bends down and sets up the trap. This is a new feature, as previously, the Trapper could not immediately reactivate traps that were on the ground.
The corresponding scene in the stream starts at 56:48:
Why is this significant? If a Trapper wanted to “re-set” a trap in the past, he had to first pick it up and then place it again. This cost additional time, as not only did he have to go through the “pick up” animation, but also find the exact position of the trap again, so survivors could not go past it.
This meant that a Trapper lost many seconds over the course of a match that he should have spent searching for survivors. Previously, there was a small bug fix for Trappers.
Already, there are harsh penalties for disconnectors, which are becoming increasingly severe.
Cortyn says: Now that this change is imminent, the question arises why the Trapper could not do this before. It’s one of those nearly perfect adjustments where I already wonder how I was able to play without it before the release. Whether this will have enough impact to make the Trapper a more frequent choice among players remains to be seen. Generally, this should save a lot of time that would otherwise be wasted.
What do you think of this change for the Trapper? Do you like it or does more need to come?
