Currently, the MMORPG Albion Online is struggling with DDoS attacks. This is nothing new for the developers, as there were already attacks on the servers at release.
What just happened to the servers of Albion? Community Manager Elsa announced in the forum that there may be disconnects and lags in Albion Online.
Although the developers had recently resolved connection issues, the servers are currently not performing well. The reason for this is the DDoS attacks from outside, targeting the game’s servers.
What is Albion Online doing against the attacks? According to Elsa, they are collaborating with one of the leading hosting companies to fend off the attacks.
This has so far worked well, and the servers have withstood the attacks. Nevertheless, due to the attacks, there are issues with connectivity and the mentioned lags.
However, the community manager could not provide us with more detailed information to avoid giving the attackers too much information.
DDoS attacks are already familiar to Albion Online
Does someone not want Albion Online to succeed? At the release of the game, there was already a similar situation surrounding Albion. Back then it was extortionists who wanted to exploit the good start of the MMORPG to fill their own pockets.
Currently, Albion Online is doing very well again. The switch to Free2Play has helped the game and led to player numbers soaring to an all-time high. They even expanded the existing areas to make room for new players.
Of course, the developers find it extremely frustrating that attacks are happening right during these good times for the game.
Is there compensation for the players? So far, there is no information regarding compensations due to the connectivity issues. During the attacks in 2017, the developers decided to give away free game time.
