The German Games Award (DCP) 2024 will be presented on April 18 in Munich. Gamers, Twitch streamers, and e-sports participants have the chance to become Player of the Year. MeinMMO introduces the nominees to you.
What kind of award is this? Since 2020, the DCP has honored gamers who stand out due to their extraordinary achievements with the title “Player of the Year”. Among the nominees is a mix of e-sports athletes, Twitch streamers, and YouTubers.
Here we introduce you to the 5 nominees:
Anormaldisaster
Sandra Friedrichs is active on Twitch and TikTok as “Anormaldisaster”, where she mainly showcases The Sims 4. She also uses her platform to educate about mental health in gaming and her experiences as a woman in the industry.
She emphasizes that while gaming can be a burden on mental health, it can also provide an escape and a means for creative expression. On TikTok, the streamer discusses what it is like to date as a female gamer and having to hear that she only plays “female games”.
The DCP jury justifies the nomination by stating that Sandra “Anormaldisaster” Friedrich displays a responsibility for reach to address issues surrounding gaming. At the same time, the entertainment aspect of her streams is never neglected.

Fabian Siegismund
Fabian Siegismund is a former editor of GameStar, which, like MeinMMO, belongs to Webedia.
On his YouTube channel “Siegismund” with 335,000 subscribers, Fabian Siegismund has mainly been showcasing Let’s Plays of Battlefield and Hunt: Showdown for over 10 years. Since November 2018, he regularly demonstrates his shooter skills on Twitch.
Beyond gaming, Fabian Siegismund also speaks on societal issues and takes a clear stand against hate speech and right-wing extremism. During gaming sessions, topics such as exclusion and discrimination are also discussed – this earned him a nomination for Player of the Year.
Even after his time at GameStar, he is still associated with it, such as being a guest on the GameStar Talk.
Franziska Bülow
Initially, gaming was just a hobby for Franziska Bülow while she worked as an administrative specialist in public service. In 2019, she joined the e-sports team Aesir eSports, where she soon took on leadership. In 2021, she left her job in the municipal administration for a future in gaming.
The single mother quickly realized that there are additional challenges for women in the e-sports world and advocates for the dismantling of stereotypes in gaming.
She is now the CEO of her own agency, PURE4U, which manages and markets influencers from various fields, from gaming to art. Franziska Bülow owes her DCP nomination to her positive influence on gaming culture and her role as a role model.
JustBecci
Rebecca “JustBecci” Raschun is a variety streamer on Twitch, showcasing a colorful mix of various games and Just Chatting for her 40,000 followers. The Austrian also publishes videos on YouTube covering topics like lifestyle, gaming, and the Twitch scene.
JustBecci also tackles difficult topics such as influencer burnout, hate comments online, or sexualized content on Twitch.
Furthermore, she rocks as a host for gaming and e-sport events and her own cooking show “Cook, Eat, Game” for A1 eSports. The DCP jury justifies JustBecci’s nomination for Player of the Year with her contribution to greater inclusion on Twitch, YouTube, and in the world of e-sports.
Maurice Weber
Maurice Weber is one of Webedia’s talents. MeinMMO, GamePro, and GameStar also belong to Webedia.
The strategy game expert Maurice Weber addresses grievances in gaming as a member of the GameStar editorial team, such as currently with Ubisoft’s “AAAA” game Skull and Bones (via GameStar).
On Twitch and YouTube, he regularly entertains his fans with content on games like Crusader Kings 3, Diablo 4, Baldur’s Gate 3, and everything that promises a great story.
His clear stance for diversity and against extremism has now also earned Maurice a nomination for Player of the Year – another step toward absolute world domination.

How does the election take place? The award for Player of the Year is distinguished from other DCP categories by being a public award. The selection takes place in two steps:
- First, a specialized jury creates a preliminary selection of nominated gamers who stood out in the past year – this can be through gameplay performance, but also engagement around gaming.
- 5 nominees are then made available for the vote. The result is determined by the main jury as well as the public vote. Voting has been ongoing since March 18, 2024, and will last until April 11, 2024. On the DCP website, you can currently vote for your favorite.
In contrast to other DCP categories, there is no prize money for the Players of the Year, rather just “bragging rights”. This differs for games: Last year, a total of 800,000 euros were awarded in prize money across 15 categories: Germany supports RPG that achieves 91% on Steam with €100,000 – €120,000 goes to the game with 68%
