In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 the Days of Summer have started! This update brings various new features, such as a new map and additional game modes, yet many fans are disappointed.
What do the Days of Summer bring? So far, it hasn’t been entirely clear what this update entails. Now it is live and brings a multitude of new additions.
In addition to some significant changes, there are also many small additions that will hardly affect gameplay. We will show you the highlights.
Here are the new features of Days of Summer
An old map returns: Experts of the Black Ops series will remember it: The map “Grind” is back, set in a small skate park.
The map will be free for all players. It will initially launch on PS4, with other platforms to follow.
A new Featured Playlist: Additionally, Black Ops 4 will get a new Featured Playlist. Now you will be able to engage in “Capture the Flag.” In this mode, you must protect your own flag and bring the opponent’s flag to your base.
What’s new in Blackout: The battle royale mode of Black Ops 4 is also receiving some changes. A summery atmosphere will be spread across the map. You will come across colorful summer lights, BBQ parties, and even water balloons that you can throw.
Moreover, Blackout will introduce “Ground War,” a massive “50 vs. 50” mode. There will be no friendly fire, and you can revive all your teammates. Activision itself calls it the largest fight in the history of Call of Duty.
Furthermore, a new attack helicopter is coming to Blackout, and you can use the “Hawk” to search for enemies across the entire map.
That’s why Days of Summer is still not very well received
There are numerous new features, and players could try out the new features for hours. Nevertheless, the update is criticized by many fans. But why?
This is what the fans criticize: With the Days of Summer, 5 new weapons were also introduced to the game. The problem is, apart from a sniper rifle, these weapons can only be found in reserve crates. While you can obtain them for free, the loot pool is massive, and the chance of getting the new weapons is low.
This does not sit well with many fans, as it often happened in Black Ops 3 that new weapons could only be found in such crates. So if you want to ensure that you get the new weapons, you either need a lot of luck with the free reserve crates or you have to buy some.
The problem with reserve crates has been known for a long time in Black Ops 4. In this current update, it again shows that Activision continues to rely on such a principle for new weapons. This lowers the overall appeal of the update, which actually offers a lot of content but disappoints the fans.
What do you think about it? Do you find the update good or are you also disappointed?
