The Daybreak Game Company is currently developing a new online game, the name of which might already be known.
The company secured the domain name Mythwarden. What it is about is currently still the big question. Is it the title of a new game? Is it perhaps a subsidiary studio of Daybreak? The company is currently tight-lipped about it. However, it is known that they are already working on at least one new game.
Is an online shooter for multiple platforms coming?
On the Daybreak Games website, the company is looking for new employees for a yet-to-be-announced project. Specifically, they are seeking a Lead Designer, a Product Manager, a Senior Designer, and a Senior Environment Artist. Since the new employees are expected to have experience with first-person shooters, one can assume that the game is an action game. Additionally, it seems that it is to be released on multiple platforms, as they are explicitly looking for employees for a multi-platform title.
Is Mythwarden a kind of Overwatch?
It hasn’t been long since Daybreak halted the work on the MMORPG Everquest Next. It is rather unlikely that they are now working on the same complex type of game. An online shooter in the style of Blizzard’s Overwatch would make sense. The parallels are unmistakable. Blizzard canceled the development of the MMORPG Titan to work on the online shooter Overwatch. This could be analogous to what Daybreak is doing. Perhaps they halted work on the MMORPG Everquest Next to work on the online shooter Mythwarden?
Such hero shooters are currently very much in demand and apparently they are somewhat easier to develop than an MMORPG. These games are also successful, as can be seen with Overwatch. However, we will have to wait until Daybreak officially announces what they are working on. But speculating is also fun…
