Many are looking forward to the multiplayer action RPG Dauntless, as it promises to be a mix of Monster Hunter and Dark Souls with a cooperative mode.
The game is nearing completion, and the developers have announced that they will start the first alpha as early as April.
The alpha is intended to be closely aligned with the developers’ needs. For example, they plan to allow about 500 players to engage in a fight against the monster Drask. The battles are expected to last one day. Afterward, the team will analyze all the feedback and implement it to improve this combat experience.
The alpha is very focused and compressed
During the alpha, new weapons and armor may be unlocked to test how these affect the balancing. This alpha is meant to provide a very compressed gameplay experience and allow the development team to focus on balancing.
Players will not see all aspects of the action RPG yet. Participants will be selected based on their hardware and game preferences. Registration is already available through the official Dauntless website.
The alpha will continue through the summer
The first alpha is set to start at the end of April, with a specific date still to be announced by the team. This type of short and focused alpha phases is expected to continue throughout the summer.
Subsequently, the beta for Dauntless is expected to begin in the fall, and with some luck, Dauntless will officially launch before the end of the year.
