The action RPG Dauntless is set to become more of an MMO in the future. To this end, the developers are currently planning a very exciting game mode.
What have the developers presented? The new roadmap for Dauntless (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch) mentions another hunt game mode, where you will no longer only be traveling in groups of four on the islands to hunt the Behemoth monsters.
How Dauntless could become more of an MMO
What changes with the mode? So far, you have traveled to the floating islands in the action RPG with a maximum of three other players to hunt the Behemoths. After a victory, the island was reset and you took on the next quest.
With the upcoming mode, the developers will introduce open game areas that are persistent. This means they will always remain available to you and will change over time.
Behemoths spawn repeatedly at certain locations and in varying degrees of difficulty. You wander around the island looking for new opponents.
And not just in groups of four. Additional players can join and also leave. How many players that can be is not yet determined.
How does this change Dauntless? The online game could develop more towards an MMO. Persistent areas where new opponents appear repeatedly and that you can defeat with more players strongly resemble an MMORPG.
At the very least, Dauntless is approaching the principle of Monster Hunter World, where you are also roaming around in an open game world.
When will there be more information on this? The developers of Dauntless are currently working on providing more details. As soon as there are more details, they will communicate this. When that will be remains uncertain at this time.
Players are excited for the update
How do players react to this announcement? Discussions about this new feature are already taking place on reddit. Overall, the idea is very well received by the players. However, there are also concerns.

- jiffyb333 writes: “I love the idea, but I fear the reality. When Warframe first unveiled the open world, I was so excited. Unfortunately, the reality turned out to be poor performance, long loading times, repetitive missions, and annoying travel times.”
