After Dauntless transitioned from beta to official release, there were many reports of issues from the community. However, the developers have been working to fix everything, and now the game is in a really good place.
These were the issues: After the release of Dauntless on May 21, 2019, there were ongoing complaints from players about disconnections or bugs in the game. The most common problems included:
- Microtransactions that could not be completed or took a long time
- Unstable connections to the servers
- Errors with friend lists and the social menu, preventing any co-op play with other Slayers
- Overcrowded servers with long queues
Where did the problems come from? Especially the overcrowded servers led to players having to wait for more than three hours before they could play again, according to the developers at Pheonix Labs, because over 500,000 players had already signed up for the release.
However, that was not the main problem. The influx of players only highlighted weaknesses and bugs in the game that the developers could only address after they appeared, as the Head of Publishing Nick Clifford said to Kotaku:
Many of these issues aren’t found until players show up. Until that happens, it’s hard to see and address these problems.

However, the crossplay between Xbox One, PS4, and PC, praised by many, was not to blame for the problems.
How the developers reacted: The developers frequently tweeted about the status of the game and the condition of the servers to ensure transparency and to show players that they were addressing the issues.
They apparently worked on technical solutions and continuously increased server capacity so that more players could play at the same time and the queue would be reduced. They also addressed other technical issues, and the official Twitter account tweeted daily service updates.
This is how Dauntless stands now
How does Dauntless stand? The improvements are also reflected in the community. The subreddit for Dauntless is filling up with memes about the queues and the overloaded servers. However, there are also some posts that revolve around the actual game and users who are grateful for that:
It’s nice that the subreddit is usable again and we can really talk about Dauntless. I can finally come back.

Also on Twitch, the rising popularity of Dauntless is evident. According to Sullygnome, on May 26, over 12,000 people were watching Dauntless at the same time. The number of viewers is growing daily and has reached a level that Dauntless has not seen since last August 2018.

However, Dauntless is still far from the absolute peak of over 70,000 viewers in August 2017, shortly after the launch of the alpha.
For our author Benedict, Dauntless is at least more interesting than Monster Hunter:
