The action RPG Dauntless has been live for some time now and receives regular updates. How is the game doing and what can fans still expect?
How did the launch of Dauntless go? After initial difficulties at launch on May 21, such as unstable servers, issues with microtransactions, and long waitlists, everything has settled down now. Dauntless is now fun to play.
Dauntless is doing well
How is the game performing currently? There is a lot of discussion about Dauntless on Reddit. Lore is being discussed, playstyles are being talked about, tactics for fighting the Behemoths are being exchanged … The discussions show that Dauntless has found its community and that it is very active.
Furthermore, Twitch is always a good indicator of how a game is doing.
How many viewers are watching the livestreams? On May 27, the peak number of viewers was almost 41,000 according to sullygnome. And on June 8, more than 37,500 were watching the Twitch streams. Currently, there are on average between 8,000 and 12,000 viewers. These are quite good numbers that show that Dauntless is indeed popular.
For comparison: Competitor Monster Hunter World had an average of about 800 more viewers over the past 180 days, but 4,000 fewer at the peak.
Nothing can be said about the player count as the developers do not release official numbers. However, you can always find enough players for a hunt on the Behemoths. At launch on May 21, Dauntless had over 10 million registered players.
What has happened since the launch? The developers regularly release patches and new content. This includes:

- Monsters that are not Behemoths
- Leaderboards
- Battle Passes

What does the latest update bring? Recently, update 0.9.3 was released. This introduces the highly anticipated loadouts among other things.
- You can now save equipment and quickly switch between them
- Crafting is made easier as you can now recognize “Item Levels” and “Cell Slot Types” at a glance
- An icon indicates when you can upgrade an item
- The new gun Twin Suns Repeater can be purchased directly at “The Lucky Break” shop
- Transmog stones have been reworked
What’s next? During the Nintendo Direct, some new features were teased that Dauntless fans can look forward to. This includes:
- Release on Nintendo Switch this winter
- Tempestborne Stormclaw – A new hunt for a dangerous monster
- Evolving Armor
- Aether Strikers as new weapons
- The mysterious Scarred Master as a new NPC
The action MMO Dauntless is currently doing well and anyone who wants to join will find not only many teammates but can also look forward to a future full of updates.
