A dataminer on Reddit recently gained access to some lists in the dataset of Monster Hunter Wilds. It contains several items that will appear in the game – including a list of expected monsters. The community is particularly excited about a representative.
What did the dataminer find? Reddit user TheNadei shares in his thread a find he made with a friend in the datasets of Monster Hunter Wilds. He shows several lists that are supposed to display the upcoming monsters, as well as the number of quests, the areas, and the various weather conditions.
The monster list contains around 30 different codes that, according to The Nadei, could be assigned to specific enemies. Some names stand out in the list that have not appeared in a Monster Hunter for a while.
Hope for a reunion
What monsters are on the list? Monsters like Nerscylla, Gore Magala, Blangoga, and Seregios can be found there. However, the community is most excited about a leviathan, whose return some fans have already theorized about: Lagiacrus.
The monster placed third in a 2023 survey by Capcom (via monsterhunter.com) and is thus among the most popular in the series, even though it hasn’t appeared since Monster Hunter 3.
Can the data be trusted? Since the data has not yet been officially confirmed, you should view these lists with skepticism. Even if these lists can be derived from previous data from Monster Hunter Wilds, these contents could still change or be removed before release.
What theories did the fans have? Nevertheless, there is at least some evidence that Lagiacrus will return in Monster Hunter Wilds, as some community theories suggest. On Reddit, threads discussing a potential return of Lagiacrus have surfaced repeatedly for a long time.
For example, User TheBatman110498 claimed to recognize Lagiacrus in the logo of Monster Hunter Wilds and shared his thoughts with the community. User _Gesterr proposed 6 months ago that the redesign of the leviathan skeletons makes the return of the beloved monster likely. This theory is supported by the fact that Lagiacrus was originally supposed to make an appearance in Monster Hunter World but was replaced by Rathalos.
However, even if the leviathan returns, it will likely have to appear in a somewhat changed form. Previously, Lagiacrus was primarily known for its underwater battles. However, these will not be present in Monster Hunter Wilds for the time being, as Capcom has already confirmed. You can read why this decision was made here: Monster Hunter Wilds will likely not bring back a controversial feature because it would be like developing a new game
