Data miners have found hints of another new hero in the game files of Apex Legends. Along with his name, even the name of one of his abilities has already been discovered.
Who is it about? The website GamingINTEL has discovered hints of a legend named Prophet. This was figured out by an ability with the filename “prophet_pregoc_target”.
What can Prophet do? According to the leak, one of his abilities, which makes the legends in Apex Legends unique, will be named “Precognition”. In German, “Vorausahnung” or “Vorkenntnis”. What exactly Precognition will do is still unknown. However, there are some speculations:
- Prophet might know the location of the final ring, similar to Pathfinder.
- Prophet might know where the next supply drop will land.
- Prophet might know where certain loot is located on the map.
Especially the last two possibilities sound likely, as the found code with the suffix “target” refers to a target associated with the ability. Thus, Prophet might be able to target an item and use Precognition to see where copies of that item are located.
When will Prophet be released? So far, there is no exact date known for Prophet’s release. However, it is likely to happen only after the beginning of Apex Legends seasons in March.
Before that, it is highly likely that another legend will be introduced, Octane, who can enhance his stats with stimpaks. Octane gained attention in a previous leak alongside the trapper Wattson.
How reliable is the information? So far, only a few files have been found. Therefore, it is not certain when Prophet will arrive or if he will even make it into the game.
The found files might also represent drafts or discarded plans that did not make it into the balancing of the current legends and therefore exist only as remnants.
More evidence for more legends
After the leaks of some names for upcoming legends, game files have now appeared that at least prove the existence of these legends. In a reddit thread, the user HansLandaBlackout posted a list of character names.
In this list, Prophet is also found, which at least makes his appearance more likely. However, whether and when the new legends will come needs to be confirmed officially first. At least one new map seems to be in the works.
