Diligent dataminers have once again discovered new information about Pokémon GO. They found a total of 4 exciting changes related to quests, attacks, and events.
This update concerns: Yesterday afternoon, on December 4th, Pokémon GO began rolling out update 0.161.2. There weren’t many exciting changes in it.
However, Niantic has added something afterward that is quite interesting.
Event quests and new attacks await you
The following quests have been found: Tonight, the Evolution Event starts, and dataminers have already found field research tasks that you can solve. They are:
- Catch X Seaking
- Catch X Onix
- Catch X Porygon
- Catch X Swablu or Psyduck
- Catch X Sunkern
- Evolve X Pokémon
- Evolve a Feebas
- Use an item to evolve a Pokémon
- Evolve an Onix
- Hatch X eggs
- Win X raids
- Win X times against Team GO Rocket bosses
What can be said about the quests? It is already quite clear which Pokémon will spawn more frequently in the wild. Pokémon like Sunkern or Swablu were not announced, but are likely to be encountered more often.
There are also some tough quests, like evolving Feebas or battling against Rocket bosses. Here, there are likely to be particularly good rewards.
The following attacks have been found: Dataminers have also found 2 new attacks that could soon be introduced into the game. The attacks are called Aura Sphere and Flying Press.
- Aura Sphere is a Fighting-type attack that could be learned by Lucario, Togekiss, Dialga, and Palkia in the console games.
- Flying Press is also a Fighting-type attack, but could only be learned by Hawlucha in console games. This is a Pokémon from Generation 6. So, we might have to wait a bit longer for this attack.
This hints at a Christmas event: New avatar items have been discovered that highlight Stantler. Headbands and a sweater featuring Stantler have been found.
This suggests that there will still be a special event featuring the Pokémon this year. Additionally, a special event Stantler with bells around its neck has been found. This could come around Christmas.
New texts from Professor Willow: It looks like Professor Willow will thank you before the end of this year. Text passages have been found that show his expressions of gratitude.
In them, he thanks you for discovering Jirachi with him and battling against the Rocket grunts. However, it is unclear whether there will be any special tasks or rewards in addition to the text.
When will the findings be in the game? Of course, these are initially just data miner findings, and none of this has to actually come to the game. However, it can be assumed that the items will be appearing in the coming weeks.
The quests will certainly be available tonight, and the avatar items could come around Christmas. The texts from Willow are likely to appear by the end of the year. When the attacks will come is expected to be the biggest mystery.
