CCP announced more about their new shooter Project Nova (PC) at the “EVE Vegas” event. Here you get all the info about the new sci-fi shooter from the EVE Online makers.
What is Project Nova? Under the name “Project Nova,” the development of a new first-person shooter in the EVE universe is currently underway. CCP has been working on the project for some time. On the night of Friday, October 19, 2018, to Saturday, October 20, 2018, new material for the upcoming shooter was shown.
This is what Project Nova is about
This story is told by Project Nova: Project Nova will tell the story of the mercenaries from CCP’s previous shooter, Dust 514. Dust was a companion game to EVE Online for the PlayStation 3 and was shut down in May 2016.
Since then, Dust has been further developed for PC, under the name Project Nova. Already at EVE Fanfest 2016, CCP presented Project Nova and at EVE Fanfest 2017, CCP talked about the development of Dust into Project Nova.
In Project Nova, you play as a combat clone, a battle machine cloned only for the fight. You are a copy of the best fighters in the universe.
After you were betrayed and had to hide, the Aegis officer Kasiha Valkanir calls you back and offers you atonement or redemption. You are to regain your reputation by protecting the world from the threat of “Sansha’s Nation.”
This is what Project Nova offers for PvE and PvP: Project Nova is supposed to offer content for both co-op PvE and 16v16 player PvP. You have various “dropsuits” available, classes with individual skills and weapons that you can even upgrade and customize later in the game.
In co-op PvE, you play in a team of 4 players on the surfaces of ships and hold control points. Opponents come in waves and try to overwhelm you. If you are not careful, you quickly lose all points. Unfortunately, we could not test the PvP mode for you yet.
The absence of PvE was, according to Snorri Árneson, a major mistake of Dust 514. The game focused too much on PvP and offered too little content. The team has learned from these mistakes and is now implementing this new understanding in Project Nova.

This is how Project Nova is linked to EVE Online: One of the most important features of Project Nova is the connection to EVE Online. The story already connects the games:
- The factions of Project Nova can also be found in EVE Online.
- The recruiter, Kasiha Valkanir, is an NPC in EVE Online and is actively represented on Twitter.
- Project Nova and EVE share a world: What happens in one world also affects the other.
Moreover, players from EVE Online and Project Nova should be able to interact. There are no concrete plans yet, but it is possible that EVE players will give Nova players missions to loot wrecks or craft items for them.
Who is Project Nova suitable for? We have only been able to take a brief look at the game and play a few rounds. However, the first impression of the game suggests that it will appeal to a broad audience.
The entry seems to be quite easy so far, but promises depth when players engage more deeply with Project Nova.
Basically, Project Nova seems to attract players who enjoy casually playing a few rounds in a grounded shooter, or who want to delve deeply into their character and optimize them for battle.
